If you think i'm paying 400 odd quid for a Bean to Cup coffee machine. Why so damn expensive? Yes I love my coffee and my current coffee maker is starting to get to the end of life. But no way i'm paying that sort of cash.
Ridiculous.

I've been through a few of the more sort of £60 - £100 range coffee makers. Eventually got bored of the palaver. Now have a Tassimo and whilst it's not the bestest coffee in the world ever, it is the coffee maker we've had the most use out of, therefore the best value for money where we coffee plebs are concerned. I can think of many better uses for £400 meself...

I have a bean to cup bought from marks and spencer online. £40 odd quid (when I bought it). Ok might not be true bean to cup but it grinds the beans, dumps it I the filter then runs the water through it. Lovely jubbly!

I paid £300+ for one 8/9 years ago, it gets used about six times a day is still going strong and makes brilliant coffee so I'd say I've had my money's worth out of it There are a few more good ones to go at now and you can get a decent one for less than I paid. The real coffee fans use the ones that don't grind the beans and they are cheaper - mind you good grinders aren't cheap! Personally I prefer the convenience of the bean to cup ones and if you like a nice expresso or milky coffee made with freshly ground beans I think they are well worth it. It is better than most of the stuff you get in the coffee chains and think what you pay for a cup in them!

I always get my beans online - there are a few good vendors that do good quality freshly roasted beans. Not necessarilly cheaper, but definitely better than the supermarket stuff that may have been kicking around for ages.

I buy green beans and roast my own. Well worth the effort. Going to be doing a small batch this afternoon using a combination microwave oven (heat only) so will try and take some pics to show the really easy process.

My favourite coffees are from Guatemala. They produce some of, if not, the best and most exquisite coffees in the world. It is not about getting the most caffeine, in fact many of the best coffees are actually a lot lower in caffeine than poorer quality beans and indeed Arabica beans are less than half the caffeine of Robusta beans which are mainly used for making instant coffees or to blend with Arabica beans.
