Just started steeping some home made chilli chocolate and an attempt at Grizwalds Ice Lemon and came across a few tips.
It seems plastic bottles do not resonate very well in an ultrasonic cleaner. Far better results are achieved with glass bottles. Can anybody vouch for this as it seems reasonable?
Also, how many cycles in total are people giving their juices in the cheaper cleaners? I got one from Aldi for £14.99 last week (reduced from £19.99) which is the same one Maplin sell for £44.99, and it only does 480 seconds (8 minutes) maximum per cycle. A lot of people seem to be doing 2 or 3 hours a day (for 2 or 3 days depending on liquid) for maximum effect.

Don't know about the results but ultrasonic cleaners work at around 40Khz so it's like shaking the bottle 40,000 times a second. As plastic is a softer material it will tend to absorb the vibrations whereas glass being hard will transmit them. 8 mins at 40Khz is still a fair bit of shaking. (also, damn! meant to get one of those Aldi cleaners, clean forgot )

Put your bottles in, if they float put a elastic band around them, if they still float you can put bolts in with the bottles to hold them down aswell. I put 6 bottles at a time and put it on for 8 minutes and just switch it back on as and when i go near it as they steep well in the warm water they are in, if you keep puting it back on time after time after the 8 minutes is up the water will get too hot (you don't want that)....so leave to rest when you feel the water is getting too hot. I do this for about 3 days (at night i shake them and put them away in a dark place) A thread here what i done: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/22695/ultrasonic-cleaner-results

Does anyone notice any difference between a ultrasonic steeped juice and a standard steeped juice?

Does anyone notice any difference between a ultrasonic steeped juice and a standard steeped juice? I ain't noticed any difference, i only use it for 2ml mixes to speed things up, all my 30ml upwards juices i naturally steep as nature intended

I use glass jars for steeping as, like mikeb says, they don't absorb as much vibration as the plastic bottles do. And I particularly dislike those horrid squeezy plastic bottles for some irrational reason, probably some sort of bottle snobbery I suppose. I give them 4 x 15 minute cycles with 5-10 minutes standing time between cycles, put them in my steeping drawer with the caps off over night then do the same next day.
