I have only had my evods for a few days. I rewicked one the next day with 3mm wick and 5 turns of 0.20 kanthal which made a 1.6ohm coil. Go with 6 turns and you should get around the 2.0ohms mark. I did put a small piece of wick on top of the coil like the original but removed it today and the difference in flavour and throat hit is huge. Oh, so if I yank out that top bit of wick I might actually get a decent hit out of the thing? I'm still terribly disappointed by my Evod, I cleaned it at the weekend, and replaced the top bit of wick with a bit of cotton wool (like I do with most clearos to stop leakiness) and it's still rubbish. Does it not leak without the top wick? Well it worked for me, the difference is day & night and no it hasn't leaked once. Have you actually rewicked it yet or are you still using the original wick and coil? I also blocked up 2 of the air holes with candle was to make the draw tighter.

I tend to find that leaving the little bit of the wick off the top does make the Evod better but has a downfall, if that Evod has been vaped quite a lot the condensation build up will be more and will get through to the bottom more quicker due to it being water/juice. This only tends to happen if you leave the Evod un-attended for a couple of days, gives it more time to get to the bottom. Because i have so many Evods it effects me more because one day i will vape one paticular Evod and won't touch that Evod for another weak later. BUT nothing a quick bit of maintenance won't fix.

I haven't rewicked (never recoil stuff) it has the original wick and coil (minus the top bit, which went on the first clean and dryburn, got replaced with cotton) and I've blocked two holes with blu tack, and I'm still getting very little hit until the blue button flashes on my riva. maybe it likes higher voltage? Maybe it's too high an ohmage? Maybe i just got a crappy one? Loads of vapour, but none of it seems to "hit" if you know what i mean.

You never recoil stuff You really should give it a go because you will or should be able to tell the difference in flavour using better quality wick, you can make whatever ohms coils you want and it saves £££ If the coils you are using are 1.8ohms then they should be fine with your Riva but if they are 2.5ohms or thereabouts then you would benefit from more power. The premade coils are way, way too close together for my liking and heat up a small area too much and dry the wick out too quickly. When you make your own coils you can spread the coils out much better across the wick and produce a more consitent burn which produces better flavour. That applies to all rebuildable devices really.

I really must go buy some wire and wick and stuff. More faffage... I have just ordered my first lot of wick and wire and "attempt" to redo my Vivi nova heads and I was wondering the same thing, 2.5 or 3mm I went with both (lol) and. 20 kanthol. Hopefully it will arrive at the weekend and I can give it a go. I also carp fish so i figure it will can't be anymore fiddly than tying carp rigs. Trouble is there is almost too much info out there Mr. Phil B. Suggests 3 lengths of 2.5, someone on here suggests 1 length of 3mm Decisions decisions? So I'll try both and see what works best. But if I can ask a question, is it better to unravel the wick or leave it as a single string if you know what I mean(after its in the head obviously) ? Up til now I have been unravelling it. Also from a numbers perspective the wick and wire cost £10 and there is enough wick to make up about 40 heads which if I bought new would be about £100!

I also use 1mm wick doubled or tripled up. Works for me. I have an evod with a plain 1mm wick with a 2mm piece on top. One of my better arrangements. I also have a 2mm one with 2 pieces of 1mm on top....it's all good. As long as the holes are full of wick, it'll work.

Hi promark, I got mine from eBay, but actually turns out to be Stealth vape. I ordered it this morning and have received an email this evening to say it was posted at 3pm today so can't complain about that. Looking forward to giving this recoil lark ago. Especially as it seems my Vivi's flavour suddenly seems to have gone down hill, both of them Still looking for opinions on whether it's better to fray or not to fray

I used to think novas were the be all and end all until I tried Evods recently, now they are the be all and end all now lol.

I have seen evods them mentioned in some posts today and will look them up. Also considering a pheonix for dripping but what to get used to rewicking first. Decisions, decisions!
