Hi all,
I've had a couple of odd days....firstly my eVic control head arrived from Bargain Vapour (took 4-5 days in the end, mostly I tracked it online) confirming my suspicion about the scam from parceltracker-uk.com.... but as my missus thought it was "just some hangsen" she filed it away rather than tell me.
I dropped my Spinner, spent 20 minutes hoiking out the button which was stuck in.....also discovered this morning the evod was cracked, so that's for the bin. Does anybody have an idea of how to safely cut an evod in half (lengthways?). It'd been interesting to see the design....
I've saved the head, but the rubber bung split whilst pulling it out (to make a new coil), so that's also for the spares box.
My eVic is now on a Joyetech 18650 tube mod, and I'd say it probably doesn't fit quite as well as I expected. It's a tiny bit short. Also, how important is it to have a vent hole in a tube.....I have a whopper 18650 3400mah genuine evic battery SANYO ready to go in, but I am kind of cautious?
I've been running the evic with my old 2000mah AW - so far so good.
Should I do the 1.1 - 1.2 firmware? I'm not interested in the software at all, but as I understand it, the program will update the evic? Not that I have a usb cable or anything, but there are loads around the house.
Anyway, overall I've not done anything interesting with vaping hardware for ages and now the eVic is here, I'm not overly happy as I feel I should have bought the genuine tube. (I also might need it out and about as the Spinner doesn't seem quite itself....)

Battery should work great.
The firmware/software is much better to adjust the eVic settings plus you get the benefits of the tinkering of modes you might wanna try.

From a safety point of view, you must have a vent hole in the tube and those that haven't are aka potential pipe bombs Please don't risk it.

OK, so just go ahead and install the download, attach the evic and let it update the firmware. Do you happen to know the "size" of usb cable...I must have one somewhere.... Ta.

A source of ventilation is necessary from every aspect of safety You could think of. As Greigster put it, without one you've got a potential bomb should anything untoward happen. If the battery starts venting, it's bad enough WITH a vent, without one its BANG time !!

The bonus of course would be returning the AW and non-vv control head to the existing tube, leaving me with a complete eVic and compete ego-t mod. Another thing (if it's OK?) The AW I bought for the tube mod is unprotected....the 3400 sanyo is protected (right?)....seems weird - I thought protected for devices that carry no electronic gubbins.

You are holding the mod to your face, it develops a fault and gasses start to leak from the battery. Without a hole for those gasses to escape there is only 1 thing that will happen. Protected batteries, electrical mod , safety fuse....it doesn't mean much when you've got no teeth or nose left. A couple of holes in the tube are the cheapest form of preventing that I can think of. It sounds like over the top scare mongery, and it's supposed to. There is no price on safety.

The protection question was "out there" as I never even thought that the Sanyo that came with the evic head would be protected. What do you reckon to me drilling holes in the "old" tube before re-using it with the original head? To think, I've been using the "Tube mod" for months, often on unregulated - in a solid tube..... I thank you.

Great. I think I have some time to do this, as I'm not going to use it until I get a tube....which won't now be until Wednesday earliest.
