my good mate Roger (known affectionately as 12" as he has only got one foot) is undertaking the mammoth task of paddling his handmade canoe for charity down the Canal system from Kendal to Godalming, he is now on day 7 travelling south from Parbold, if you live nearby shout a bit of encouragement and or abuse at him for me, he will be frequenting drinking houses along the way so keep an eye out for the Portland Paddler. link for some more info theportlandpaddler.org.uk/about-me/

If he were coming anywhere near here I would make a special effort to go support him, but I very much doubt he will be in Essex, but I wish him all the best.
