It does depend on the flavour - some are very strong, some less so. I find the rhubarb really overpowering, for example, and wouldn't go over 8% with that. The cream is also quite strong. Then I got their Iron Brew and mixed it at 20%, tasted of nowt 3 weeks later

BC if you have a look through the members recipe thread you'll get some ideas as to the percentages of different flavours people use

I think I am going to try CCW at the weekend and buy a few. I am a bit apprehensive about the Capella I got as Ash said last night he sometimes got a chemically aftertaste.

I feel the same about TPA fruit flavours - it's just a matter of taste, I think all the flavouring houses have their strengths and weaknesses. Capella fruit, for example, I find to be lovely. TPA bakery flavours are superior IMO. CCW strawberry is my absolute favourite. F'arts fruits can be a little harsh, but their cocoa, mints and nutty flavours are lush. Trial and error

Hmmm. I guess it is just a minefield of trial and error. I think I read somewhere on here the other day that there is a company selling batches of small samples so you don't have to waste a lot of money finding out what you like using normal sized bottles. Trouble is, I can't remember where I read it.

It's all a personal taste really....I normally start around 5% & then test after a day or so & then start adding....once you've used a particular flavour, you'll get used to it's strength & know the next time you use it, where to begin with regards %'s.......at least that's my way, but everyone does it differently...you'll find your own system.

You really are a diamond Steve. So helpful.

Dolly,
I have sold maybe close on 5000 bottles of Capella, no one has ever reported back (to me) that there is a chemical aftertaste from them, they are respected in the mixing community as one (if not "The") best you can get! So, I wouldn't worry about it.... Just start with a little lower % flavour and then you can add as others have said.

I knew they were popular as many on here mention them and that's why I picked them from your list of suppliers. I shall just have to wait and see how it turns out. But I intend to try all the different suppliers you deal with in the coming months to see what suits me best, and as others say, even between certain flavours in different ranges there can be big differences. Confused? Yes, so am I
