Ok so one of hubby's ego battery's needed charging so screwed it into the charger. Green light, nothing else. I cleaned all contacts, tried again. Not charging I raised the center pin, tried again, not charging Tried it in 3 other chargers we have, still the same thing. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? We do have backups and backups for those and some more ordered from fasttech but wondered why this happened.

Wow seems to be a lot of batteries going down tonight.
You have done everything that would be suggested.
Is the light on the battery button staying on?

When I first got my Riva, I had the same thing. I had the charger plugged into usb hub, that should have had enough power. Just green light on charger. When I used the Kindle plug, it worked fine. Green light turned red & battery flashed. Then green light once charged. Since then, it now works in the hub OK.
It MAY be something like the battery being a bit too discharged for the usb source you are using - if you have another one (Kindle, iPhone, etc) you could try that, or different usb port on a computer.
Have you tried the chargers with other batteries?
I may be speaking complete garbage, but hopefully not.
Good luck.

When I plug the battery into the charger( which is plugged into ipad plug not computer) the light on the battery does not light up and the charger light stays green. When I take the battery off the charger and press the button, it flashes. The chargers charge up other battery's no problem. Plug them in, battery flashes, light turns red.

Could you try charging it from the mains instead? Most mobile phones come with a wall socket adaptor and you can plug the usb lead into it and try charging it from the wall socket instead.

Even if the battery has had it's day there's still something there or the led wouldn't flash so the charger light should go red. The charger doesn't care whether the battery is charging or not, it's the ego pcb that controls the charging so to me it sounds like a dodgy connection. If you've got a test meter you could try measuring the battery output, should be 3+ volts when it needs charging. If it reads zero then there's a connection problem inside the ego. Also I've found that sometimes my batteries don't charge so I unscrew them a little and away they go. It would seem that too tight is as bad as too slack. (The usb spec is 500ma. at 5v but some usb ports on pcs/lappys don't give that so chargers won't work. )

Do you have any ego to 510 adapters. You could try one on the battery with the charger and see if it gets a contact.

Try lifting the center pin in the charger.

I agree with mikeb, my egos don't charge when screwed onto the charger too tight. I have to unscrew a little and only then the light turns to red and stays red until the battery is fully charged.
