I used to get a rancid awful taste with all of my rebuildables. I sold them on a few months ago out of frustration. since I've given them another go, I think I realised what the problem was, it may be related to yours?
When I was attaching the wick/coil to the post/screws, the legs were too long, resulting in a nasty taste. I now keep them as short to the screws as possible, without touching any metal but very close, no more dodgy taste.

Loose coils often produce the taste you describe, do a recoil and make sure the coil is hugging (not squeezing) the wick. the coil will be glowing red in the air and have no juice to evaporate, its this that you are tasting.

Nah roger it's usually 2.1 with the two strands of wick. I've used just the one this time and its come out at 1.5. I think ill rig it all again. This taste keeps apearing though. Juice tastes muted to how it should do. I'm no pro at this. But it's not right.

Loose coils, not close enough to the screws, coil not over air hole, not enough strands. Any of the preceding. I'm using some old 1mm wick trebled giving a 1.4 coil and 3 strands and it's working well. It can be a right old game sometimes.

As an afterthought, make sure you are not blocking the juice channels with wick, you could be getting semi dry burnt taste?

I'd guess the same - a loose coil - I wound one a bit loose the other day and got a bitter taste. Not done that for ages but it was a useful reminder of this potential pitfall!

If you checked your coil , have no shorts, the channels are free then your Kay is most probably under wicking the method I use is simple , figure of 8 and then I check that there is enough wick in the bottom of the well and cut the rest out

Is it the taste of a burning coil/wick like a dry hit or a taste of a short in the wiring that you are getting. I have read before that you can get a short if the insulated post has twisted slightly on its axis.
Do you have another attie that you can try the juice in?
Did it come from Cloud9?

I'd say shorty taste fellas and yes from cloud9. Gonna try again. One of the posts was twisted slightly but now all in bits. Gonna start from scratch. Not getting fluctuating ohms so didn't think short. Agh not sure which it is burn or short wish hadn't stripped it. Lol

Well Keith at Cloud9 will always have a look at it for you. He has fixed several problems for people, great customer service.

Yeah there's probably nothing wrong with it though. There's a good chance it's user error GreigsterStill frustrating. Just tried the loop method and its a lot better. But still a bitter unfamiliar taste. I should have tried a fruity juice instead. I'm sure something's changed in this juice. I know it comes as a concentrate. Maybe his mix ingredients or method has changed.

I think that it's why you need to try the juice in another attie or try another juice in the kayfun
