I was Vaping for some time before I even knew what an E-cig was or what it did. For my vaping, I was using the Iolite. Basically it is a Vaporiser that uses a Butane burner to heat a metal bowl and vaporise combustible material in that bowl that you can then inhale in the same way as an e-cig. I took my tobacco, dried it out slightly, put it through a grinder to break it into an almost powder, put it in the bowl and vaped it that way. By mixing cigarette tobacco with say a pinch of Condor, I could get a very pleasant aromatic type vape with none of the secondary smell of burning tobacco. Indeed I will at some point try my Iolite again but using some e-cig flavouring to see what it is like. But I digress. The main reason I am writing this topic is to discuss the thorny problem of when does smoking become something different just because we decide to vape it rather than smoke it. You see, the Iolite can be used to vape ANY combustible material and I have no doubt the most Iolites and other types of vaporisers are used for Marijuana and Cannabis because by Vaping it rather and Smoking it, there is none of the pungent smell normally associated with its burning, yet you still get the full effects from the drug. Going on the basis that if I am Vaping then I am no longer a Smoker, by the same terms, if I am Vaping my Cannabis, then I am no longer a Druggie!!!

Hahaha, that's one way to twist a theory. I own an Arizer Solo, which is very similar, but I'm not sure about drawing the same conclusion

I am not sure but I do not think that using a butane burner to heat a metal bowl and vaporise combustible material (which is tobacco) is vaping.
If it was than lighting a bowl of tobacco in a pipe also should be called vaping.
I can agree with you that it is not smoking but I don't think it is vaping either.

The temperatures are controlled shamreez. Tobacco will not produce any smoke below 220c, which is evident once you vape it and check the leftover material. It's most definately vaping and it's how I tried moving away from smoking initally. It's so much more pleasurable not buying any tobacco at all and mixing/waiting for your juices to steep.

Convection/conduction vaporizers can also be used with liquids by placing a few drops on some cotton wool in the chamber. (solo/ploom ect.) Think I remember that one being referred to as the "hisser". Does yours have snakes in it as well?
Have fun I

was checking it.
If we can use it with some liquid dripped on cotton also than I guess we can call it vaping.
I stand corrected.

I remember Andy Sutton (smoke2vape) using one of these and a few others using molasses in it. So expensive when you can get a tornegova kit for half the price. Its better news for the "druggies" tho I guess.

Suspected you were a druggy lobey Yes, you are quite correct. Although that was 40 years ago and in a country where you could buy Waccy Baccy by the hundredweight and it was considerably cheaper than tobacco! We didn't vape or smoke it but baked it with May & Baker cake mixes. Of course, that was in the days when I was young and good looking. Now I'm just good looking.
