izan Look I am not getting into a argument here, I agree there's two sides of a story but that woman could of been pregnant or something, whatever difficulties one may have it does not give a right to mug someone. Yes the guy was lucky and he would think the same as that bus could of killed him. I am on the breadline struggling to survive and I have never thought of mugging someone. The guy might have been on drugs but that is questionable as we don't know the full facts but still doesn't give a right to do what he did. Cousins of mine are addicts and would probably say the same. I don't see where your coming from. This is a friendly forum. I don't see why I am defending myself. Think about the victim not the villian. Instead of jumping on my view why don't you post your views of the story Peace man Sorry brother, Not an attack, it's more about perspective and the Fact that the life you and I know is the life of kings. Copypasta to follow. If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world.
If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation vou are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.
If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all. Just sayin. I My view is: WE can only view these events from OUR perspective. WE don't see the real world. We think we do, but we only see OUR world. Kinda scary how programmed we all are...

I agree to some extent by your post but the thread is not about life hardships its about what is right and wrong.
The guy was wrong to do what he did and despite what the woman went through she held out a hand to help him.
My life is by no means easy.
I have hardly little food and I eat one meal a day, I may get evicted because I am falling behind with debts. My brother bails me out as I am out of work because I jacked it in to care for my mum who was registered blind. My mum passed away a couple of years ago and its been difficult to get a job because I have had health problems. The only money in my bank is what gets paid by the DWP. I cannot expect our kid to bail me out much longer as he is not rich himself. I have never been tortured but my life has been a battle. I think I have covered most points made from your copypasted post and yes I do agree its better in the context you quoted but despite my struggles I have not turn to crime.
The guy look better dressed than me. bottom line he's a thief no excuses.
We don't know the ins and outs of a person's life, a lot of people are facing hardship that don't turn to crime. I cannot see any relevance to your counter post as its plain to see what happened in the video.
The only thing I am rich in is common decency
Thanks for your reply Izan

Sorry everyone. I kicked this off and I apologise. I only commented because I used to be the idiot that stole the phone. After coming out of the psych ward I tried to make amends with my victims. Some forgave me others didn't. My qualms are not with who was right or wrong but if the mugger was my brother, father, son I would not wish any worse than what happened to him. This is what upsets me. Have I suffered enough for what I did when things were different in my life? I got better by working hard and having people that forgave me, not by those who labeled me.
Sorry again if I caused any offence or caused any aggro.
Regards Jez

My original post questioned the impact that the incident would have on the woman. I did not make any assessment of good/ bad, right/wrong. I did not seek to defend the behaviour, but to point out that, perhaps, our perceptions and preconceptions are biased.
It's not what we don't know that gets us; What gets us is what we know for sure, that just ain't so....
Thanks for sharing Stam,
Good luck
