Well, I found out what the mesh fanciers are on about, which was the object of the exercise, and worth the £6. The DID didn't work as supplied. The centre post had been screwed hard down onto the base, crushing the washer round to the outside of it, preventing connection with the centre pin of the battery and causing a short against the base. It came without drip tip or allen key - maybe that's how brysoni23 got it - fortunately I have both things. I assembled it and coiled the mesh. I don't know what the wire was that brysoni23 sent but it took about 8 turns to get something the vamo didn't call 'Lo' Then it worked fine - beautiful in fact - for about 30 seconds, then vamo says Lo again. Take the top off, poke it a bit, goes back to 1.3, vape a couple of draws, Lo again. Brysoni also supplied the mesh - might that be the problem?

I did a post a few days ago with a "easy method" from vapourtrails TV I'd suggest you watch it. After months of trying to do my AGA-T I've finally got it to work with this method.

Thanks for the link DiscoDes. The rolling method won't work on my DID clone - the holes are very small (I might end up drilling them out, but that is another story). But heating the mesh using the coil, rather than over a flame, is interesting. My (current) theory is that resistance goes down because the mesh isn't properly oxidised, and so the coils are shorting on the mesh. If my theory is right, and Hifistud's method is good, then my set-up should improve over time. This does indeed appear to be happening. Next time I shall oxidise the mesh over a flame and dry burn it. Belt and braces, me.
