Hi Vespa and welcome from me too. You don't need to use protected batteries in the Vamo as it already has protection circuits built in to it - personally I would always use IMR batteries in it - they are high drain and use a safer chemistry than the normal Li-on batteries. I'd say the best 18350 batteries are AW or Efest and then there are quite a few decent 18650 IMR batteries - AW, Panasonic,Sanyo etc. Make sure you get a decent charger though!
