First day out in my new wheelchair today. Oh what joy! Although I went with Mr Dolly, not having to tell him stop, go, turn round every few seconds was fabulous not only for me but him too. Men just don't understand a woman's need to slowly browse past every shop window! I thought I managed the controls very well seeing as I am a novice. Did have one very funny moment that would look good on camera. We decided to split up so I could mooch around debenhams on my own. I needed the loo which was upstairs,so headed for the lift. Got in it ok. Up to first floor, doors opened but I couldn't get the damn thing to go in the right direction in reverse! I shot backwards slamming into the lift door. Back and forward, back and forward. At this point I was swearing under my breath. Finally, I lined myself up straight and went for it full speed backwards. I went so fast my head shot backwards and when I flew out of the lift I ran over some blokes feet!!!  as I was travelling backwards I couldn't see him. Thankfully he had a sense of humour. He said " geeeez lady, if you are that dangerous in reverse I wouldn't want to make you angry going forwards.  More practice required I think....  |

I got enough problems with the driving controls never mind working a camera It was just so nice to be able to go wherever I wanted without pain or the guilt of asking someone to help me. |

Just love that story Dolly. Poor guy, glad he saw the funny side. Agree with raffles about putting a camera on it.
