The NHS inconsistency is a joke. As I have said on numerous occasions, my local hospital allowed me to vape, on the ward, in bed, on a heart and lung ward, in the same room as 5 other elderly patients.... Go figure... This was sanctioned by the consultant, not nursing staff.

It wasn't the no smoking/ecig policy I questioned ( though it does drive me nuts )... It was "the cease and desist" and his reasoning I questioned ! "It looks bad" ! ???

Come on lal... even you have got to see..there are better ways to approach the adult public ! If not we will just have to agree to disagree on this one

The way he spoke to her and his attitude DOES make him a jobsworth. Believe it or not there ARE people in this world who do get a kick out of belittling others. There is a right and wrong way to deal with the public. His way is liable to get him a smack on the nose one day.

Lal, i'm one of the folk who called him a jobsworth, and i'll stand by it. His attitude stunk, the way he spoke was ignorant, arrogant and patronising.  Just because he's a "smoking cessation officer" doesn't give him the right to speak to anyone like that, there are right ways and wrong ways to speak to and deal with people, he was so wrong on all counts, making him a 24 carat jobsworth.


Just to add, i'd just got off the train a few months back , walking down the platform, just got my ego 1100 batt/iclear 16 out ready in my hand whilst fumbling in my bag for my bus ticket, saw a guy in uniform looming up to me, and he said " excuse me love, is that one of them fake fags?  really sorry about this  love but you can't use them fake fags here, they're banned sorry, it is a fake fag isn't it ?? is it?? do they work??"   I just burst out laughing, he laughed too, i told him that by the time i'd found my flaming bus ticket  me and my "fake fag" would be well away from the station anyway, i'd like to have told him exactly what it was and whether it worked but was in such a rush. But, i just found what he said and how he said it so funny, fake fags, i got a mental image of one of those "joke" fags you see in seaside joke shops for some reason

Well done for standing up to him,

I was in hospital in cardiac unit begining of june they wouldnt let me outside so i just vaped in my bed with 4 other people
Around with serious heart problems and not one person said anything about stopping it they just asked questions if it
Was any good, i let them smell the juices i had,

As it was on the side i did get asked if i had diabetic lol

Now i just vape anywhere even in shops lol

I'll stand by my comments of him being a jobsworth/ failed traffic warden whatever.
Anyone who talks down to an adult like that get's no respect from me, I don't care if it's his job - he's an arse and seems to be happy trying to make other's lives a misery.

I know a ward where you are allowed to smoke and it is a ward that none of us ever want to visit...I will not name the hospital for obvious reasons..
