less than 3.5 thousand votes, that's pathetic, is everybody else on e-lites and not on the forums?

This is why people like Clive Bates have been suggesting getting in touch with politicians is so vital. You need ten of thousands to sign these petitions to even have half a hope and its hard enough to get anyone to sign in the first place. Petitions, unless massive, will just be written off by politicians as irrelevant. I mean wasn't it something around half a million who signed the one for Ian Duncan Smith to live on £50 a week and it got a couple of minutes on the news for a day or two, he wrote it off as a publicity stunt and the public forgot again almost straight away.
Yes sign them and help raise awareness but get as many people as you can to get in touch with their representatives both in the UK and EU on this issue.
You, your spouses, families, friends - anyone you know that can be emotive enough on the subject. If they are receiving mass personal communication all on the same subject it is far more likely to get them to look at the issue.
Unfortunately our user base isn't even signing the petitions on this, lots is spoken little is done. The public have no real awareness which includes all the users who have never been on a forum. My MP and others that have met with vapers had no clue about e cigs and the public is no different. Vendors are hitting customers with leaflets but if active forum users aren't getting behind a campaign in big numbers, there is no reason to think the less involved will do anything at all.
That's why despite the extra stress it caused me I tried my hardest to see my MP and will keep trying to get my MEPs to talk to me properly. Hell I still start welling up just thinking about my meeting, it took all the control and will I have to do it and probably didn't do my mental health any favours - but it was that or sit back and wait for e cigs to be destroyed. Heck the campaign thread on here doesn't even attract the general user in any big numbers, usually the same people read and comment on the articles. Its down to the few that do engage to spread the word and do the work - no one else will.
Everyone needs to get involved directly rather than just clicking a few buttons once in a while. If this upsets you I'm sorry but the truth can hurt as the saying goes.

Brilliantly written fella I just hope that everyone on the forum reads this , if anyone belongs to other forums this wants posting . Remember the campaign below is not just for stickers there will be a downloadable flyer ( in a few days) which will include links to the petition .

There are almost as many different petitions as there are forums, so maybe some are confused in which one to sign. It has been mentioned by prominent vaping spokespersons that there is only ONE official petition, and that is the only one worth signing as the rest will be ignored anyway.
Personally, I err on the side of caution and sign them all.

Would it be worth having some kind of thread or sticky with a list of the petitions that are running and a little explanation about them so people can figure out which ones they have signed and which they have not plus you have a list of links then that people can easily send on to other people.

Personally, I err on the side of caution and sign them all. I Have posted this same comment a couple of times Wilf. I feel it is partly spawned by not having unity between all the vaping forums and also (I hate to say it) certain figures within the vaping community trying to be top dog. For me, there just isn't a sense of togetherness in this. Just my opinion, but it has actually really put me off. I have signed the official one though.

A good plan & had a look through on here & have collated all the current petitions & put them in one post, here.... allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/threads/recent/25675Not sure whether it would be better locked, so keeping it clear just petition for links. Then if anyone knows of another petition, just contact a mod to add it.

Cheers, Rosco! I have locked it, so it can be a one stop shop for all petitions.

I have to to say that this is my favourite part of the forum and I'm really grateful that there are those of you more savvy than me in terms of social networking and accessing blog info, etc as I just wouldn't be up to speed without you. The information you have shared has inspired me to be politically active for the first time in my life and because of you I have written to MPs, met with my MEP and spread the word. So although I have not posted about it, I'm sure you have affected others in this way too. I have been able to discuss the situation with people from all walks of life that I meet in my daily life and often it's these discussion that spark off a bigger groundswell of opinion than anything else. So thanks for giving me the info to be able to do this. It makes me think about a certain you tube vid I watched a couple of years back which demonstrated quite well what a ridiculous situation we have put ourselves in by supporting statism but it always reminds me that we as the many do indeed hold the power, if we want it, over the few who try to place stupid controls on our lives. Thanks again to all of you who contribute to this part of the forum.
