How do you rebuildable types stop the newly cut ends of your Ecowool wicks from resembling a mop that has had 20,000 volts put through it. However I cut mine the ends seem to be determined to unravel at a speed approaching terminal velocity!! and that's before I muddle my way through wrapping coils round them!!!

Wind a wee bit of wire round the end that is fraying. Wind the coil. Get it in place. Cut the bit of wire off.

As fred said, heat the ends up and it will fray less, also cutting the wick with the sharpest item you can find also helps

Once pre-heated to white hot, using a chef's torch, as has been said, it will go quite stiff. If you then use some nail clippers to cut it, the ends will stay compact and rigid.
As soon as you apply juice to the wick, it will go back to its original flexible state.
When I am using Ekowool, I slide about 6 inches out of the pack and just pre-burn just a little more than the amount that I need, and cut it. This leaves the cut end of the bulk amount left in the pack with a non fraying end for the next time you re-wick.........but beware that Ekowool holds the heat for longer than normal silica after pre-burning, so keep it away from anything including fingers until it has fully cooled.

I tie a knot in the end when storing it,when im going to make a wick i put another knot where i expect the wick to end( knot..............another knot...gotta luv my graphics ) then when im ready to cut it i cut inside of the second knot and this leaves the knot(the second knot) in place for storing and ready for next time. Gawd knows it that makes sense but it works for me Obviously does nt work if you form the coil with a screw first to thread through
