Hello & welcome to the forum, escapee, to your Mum too! Smashing that you're doing the homework for her & it looks like you're well into that. Mind you don't get shineyitis on her behalf though. Do hope that you manage to get the right mix to stop your Mum's reactions & that she can happily continue vaping.

Hi escapee and welcome to the forum! And all credit to you for helping your Mum - you seem well-informed, and I hope that we can assist in any way we can to guide your Mum to a sustainable vaping life. You appear to be going down the right track with the 70/30 and 80/20 juices, keep us posted on their successes or otherwise, and please ask if you have any queries! Andy

from what I've ready rich64 - the main two drawbacks of 100% VG is a thicker mixture that some cartomizers struggle with (burning out the wick too quickly) and the potential for a build up of phlegm/catarrh which apparently high doses of VG can have a tendency to cause in some users. I'm hoping my mum has an intolerance to higher doses of PG and not PG in general as I've purchased 30/70 and 80/20 eliquid to trial.... failing this I do have one bottle of 100% VG in reserve. Do you believe that you have an intolerance to PG? Welcome to you Escapee and congratulations to your Mum. I've a PG sensitivity, some people find that taking an antihistamine tablet helps them, although it didn't me. Switching to VG heavy liquids have, I don't have any problems with wicking as the current delivery systems available are much better at being able to cope with a thicker fluid. You'll also find that a pre-made juice will have had it's VG content diluted so wicking really shouldn't be a problem, it will also have a percentage of PG as the majority of flavourings are suspended in it . . . so both those factors will loosen the VG up. On the positive side, at least this sensitivity has surfaced before you've stocked up too much with PG heavy juice.

As perp said, the newer equipment out there copes superbly with heavy vg fluids. IMO (and I confess I am a bit weird ) Then they cope even better with less water added than is the standard wisdom. Vaping equipment is evolving really fast, and sometimes it is hard to keep up. I am sensitive to pg, I can tolerate some, but I take care not to cross the line. I vape home mixed 100% vg diluted with 5% demineralised water. I have 0 problems with wicking and as yet have no problems with phlem etc. I have had problems in the past with premixed vg juices and gurgling/condensation issues. I am convinced that lowering the water content solves this (due to experimenting once I started mixing my own) Now that I am so used to 100% vg (and yes most of my flavours are suspended in pg, so 100% is not entirely accurate, but I rarely mix at more than 10% flavour) I find pg juices really harsh, and don't mind at all that I can't use them much anyway.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words of support and advice..... I do have a couple more question though if anyone could answer these please.
1. What is the best atomizer/cartomizer for use with 100% VG (currently trialing Vivi Nova rebuildable tanks)
2. What is shineyitis?? ???

1. I'm a stick in the mud & still like Boge cartomisers - especially for high content VG e-liquid, but hopefully others will come up with other alternatives 2. shineyitis is a terrible disease

Not long wicked ones anyway. The other thing...um...

Ah I think I may be cursed with that affliction already Chrissie (though nothing's fallen off yet!) I daren't guess as to how much the cost implication is - just to say the first mech mod I bought I decided to buy 5!! This then opened my eyes to the world of VV/VW and I ordered a Vamo V3 which is winging it's way from Fastech and should be here in the next couple of days!
