Och I don't mean the chemical composition or the health part, I mean the actions and my attitude towards vaping/smoking.
I started smoking back in the days when "computers" were these metal cash registers that you saw on the counters of posh shops. So we didn't have Forums where we could go and discuss folks preferences for Passing Cloud compared to Woodbines or drool over the benefits of a gold plated Dunhill Lighter compared to a box of Swan Vestas. Even if there had been computers and forums, I doubt very much if I would have bothered with them. My, as it was then, Nelson cigarettes were all I needed and the idea of discussing them with anyone else would have seemed bizarre.
These days I am finding that I am vaping much the same way as I used to smoke. My Ego e-cigs are my out and about tobacco flavoured vape and my MODs are my indoor tobacco/fruit/menthol vapes and I no longer search through the forum for the latest shiny or the latest e-juice.
Indeed Vaping has become more of just something I do, much like smoking was.
Perhaps this will change in the future and I will once again get excited by some part of the vaping scene, but at the moment I am rather enjoying just having a habit that has blended into the background, but allows me the pleasure of a nicotine kick as and when I need it.

Love your post, I totally get it and feel the same.
Vaping is for me a safer tool to use to deal with my nicotine addiction and am so grateful for the invention of it. Not something I can ever see as a hobby (not a gadget person) not really worried about latest flavour juices as I never smoked for taste, would have smoked old rope if it relieved my nicotine craving. I totally get how vapers love the hobby and trying the latest new thing side of it, but I'm just happy to vape like I smoked and glad it's no longer actual cigs.

Thanks Siffy. I guess I was lucky in that very soon after starting vaping, I found a tobacco flavour that I really liked. That is a mild and slightly sweet tasting British fag taste called Royal. At first I bought it made up through Paradise Vape but when they were out of stock, I found the flavour concentrate at Flavour Arts and I have been making my own since.
Of an evening, I usually change over onto a fruit flavour, my favourite at the moment being Tangerine. Then, just before bad I have my "Minth". A mixture (50/50) of Menthol and Spearmint.
At the moment, these are my 3 basic e-juices and although I have loads of flavours to try in the future, these will do the noo.

Mixing sounds complicated, especially if you look through the recipe threads. If you stick to single flavour mixes in the beginning until you find your feet, it is astonishingly simple There are loads of flavours out there that are excellent vapes all by themselves. Just like trying new liquids you can end up with some flavourings you don't get on with, but once you find ones you do, then it is all fun from there on in

I've never been bothered by the latest shiny tubes. My Evic, however, is a noticeable improvement to the whole vaping experience, simply because it provides a lot more oomph. Still don't feel the need to go searching for more, happy with the hardware I've got. I'm not going to be on the list for solid silver Caravelas any time soon! Mixing, otoh, is an endless source of fascination for me. The possibilities are boundless, my failures numerous, my successes all the sweeter for it. I have everything from single-flavour mixes to ones that make full use of EMJU's 7 slots. Just discovered Cap Blueberry, and my, it's so good If you're happy sticking to what you know and love, though, what a great place to be in! Your bank account will love you

Mixing, for me, is a bit like cake recipes. Now me? I'd go for the May & Baker mixes that you splosh into a bowl, give a quick mix and bung it in the oven.
Like wise the e-juices. The Royal is one lot of Nic Base, a smidgen of PG a dod of VG and 10% flavouring. Into the bottle and stand for 3 days and then it is ready to vape. Simples.
All my basic e-juices are like this. Yes I could put on my Mad Professors outfit and get tore into some weird and wonderful recipes and be like the missus that starts her Christmas Cake in October and is rushing to ice the bloody thing on Christmas Eve, but I prefer the joys of Vaping, rather than the joys of Making!

Just to kidnap the thread (sorry) Jen what makes you say the eVic has more "oomph"? A spinner etc gives more volts on demand, which is a boost .. what makes the eVic different (apart from the adjustable settings etc). I'm not being pernickety, I'm very curious

taz96 I cook like that too, and mix a bit like that as well, it really doesn't have to be complicated and it is seriously cheaper (unless you start an obsessive collection of flavourings ) Make up a big bottle of "base" ie your pg/vg/nic the way you like it (allow for 10%ish less nic, and a tad more pg, once you add flavour) and then mixing involves smaller bottles and flavour ... easy peasy It is worth jotting down your smidgens and dods of flavour (how many drops per bottles is the simplest unless you want to use syringes or pipettes) so you can replicate your successes, but other than that it's a no brainer

Should I just start with a VPG Nicotine Base 18mg , and then add flavours?

I use this website for all my mixing. www.eliquidlabs.co.uk/eliquid-calculator.phpOnce I have a recipe that I like, even my single flavour mixes, I print it out and use that all the time. I have downloaded other e-juice calculators but find them far too complicated for my 2 brain cells to fathom out. I suppose mixing is just as complicated as you want it to be. I have flavours here in my tray that I doubt if I will ever use. My tray is a bit like my toolbox. Full of "shiny things" that I have no idea what I am supposed to use them for. Indeed the most use some tools get is for opening cans of paint!!!

Putting that money back into vaping would be a de-motivator for me. I'm looking forward to the time when it's just a background activity like smoking was.
