does the resistence of an attie lower as it nears the end of it life

Up to a week ago, I would have said "no" & that in fact the resistance gets higher towards the end of an attie's life. However, according to Trog in a thread on UKVapers, he has some atties behaving the opposite way round.

I've seen both happen too, though by and large I would say that the resistance increases. The thinner the wire, the higher the resistance, that is a fact of Physics. As you ise an atomiser the heat causes the wire to get thinner and thinner, until eventually it breaks. If the resistance decreases, then there is a likelihood that there is a short of some form in the atty, so the circuit remains completed, but something else is in contact with the wire, causing the increase. I would bet that there is a mesh fragment that is coming into contact with the wire and causing a false resistance reading...
