I've already had a go at this using some menthol crystals from my local pharmacy, but I'm now wondering if I've used enough crystals. I dissolved about 6 large crystals (maybe 10% max. of the little plastic pot) in some PG and then popped the bottle in some warm water where they dissolved in about 5 minutes. It certainly tastes mentholly (?!) but I'm now thinking I should have put some more crystals in/ I want to make up some really potent menthol with blackcurrant to take with me to France next week - any advice please?

I may be wrong but as far as I know menthol crystals do not dilute the nic strength of your juice, meaning you can either add a few crystals (crush them up first they dissolve faster) at a time and try it until you get the right amount of mint.
Or you can go crazy mad scientist and throw in all the crystals for a blast of MINT
If I'm wrong about the dilution I'm sure someone will correct me =)

I grind down the crystals...add to a 5 ml bottle till half full, add 2.5 ml pg and shake which gives a very strong concentrate to work with.(no microwave)
I ve also added the ground crystals to a ready made straight in without mixing with pg and worked very well
Hope this helps

I'm no Frogster, but just add a few more menthol crystals, as you have yet to add nic and blackcurrant, (if I have read that right?, beg pardon if not) You can't go wrong, if you keep adding small amounts to get it to your required taste, so to speak. Slow but sure. Take it easy though, from what I have read in the past one does not need many crystals for it to become very strong. Have a nice trip and enjoy the eau-de-vie, I can taste it now, the eau-de-vie, not the menthol.

Thanks dinamic22, I think I'll add a few more crystals to my concentrate before using it to flavour - and I'll add this to the recipe thread too, as I'm sure others will find it useful

I followed Kev's method and got a fairly strong menthol. I still need to add 5-10% menthol depending on how much of a blast I want. 10% flavouring to 5% menthol works well with a reasonably strong fruit flavour

Well, here goes, just made up 10ml of 12mg 50/50 homemade menthol and coolmint, with a touch of white chocolate and sweetener - putting it into my IGO-L now .............................. Hmm, not quite the menthol punch I wanted, but quite vapable all the same. I think I'll add some more crystals to my concentrate, and also add some more menthol to the juice too. We live and learn!!
