I haven't come across any other mention of a really positive reason to vape as an alternative to smoking, maybe it's just my problem! I smoked for years and gave up a few times; cold turkey never worked but pregnancy (hormones), breast feeding (hormones) and acupunture (???) were all successful (not all options available to everyone). My problem was that I used to be fat, I lost a lot of weight and kept it off - until I stopped smoking. I did try hard but after about two years it always got to the point that I replace my wardrobe or start smoking again - both cost too much money but I preferred to be a smoker over being fat. It's only been two months without cigarettes rather than two years but I find that I am not eating constantly; I don't need to substitute food for fags. I don't believe it's just the nicotine factor, I think we're into Freudian territory here. Old fashioned but it works for me. Totally agree ! I stopped smoking jan to may using patches and ate like PAC man !!! Put 2 stone on in 2 months started smoking again and lost it ! Then started vaping and haven't had the urge to over eat at all ! Loving chocolate and mocha eliqids though !! It's a grat hobby and the shopping around is soooo addictive ) I'm also loving the shopping around even if I don't really know what I'm looking at a lot of the time! That's where AAEC comes in really handy, I find something interesting then come back here and search - usually find an answer.

Hi Annihilator, I don't really like sweet stuff so I hadn't thought about this aspect; I just like puffing and want a nice taste which, for me, isn't too sweet. I have several friends who smoke and are diabetic; do you mind if I tell them what you said? Share with the world, that's what I think..... If it helps someone else then let them know about my thoughts. HaPpY VaPiNg.

I tried a friends Ego c4 after a friend had told me he had packed in the stinkys. He too had been smoking for over 30 years. So I tried his new vapey rechargeable thingy and hey presto it did the trick! I went out and got a cheapo version (for now) I wish i'd never started smoking.Roll ups were what I smoked with a menthol filter. I haven't tred menthol e-juice yet,but love strawberry 14mg strength at moment. My lungs must be like leather handbags after 31 years smoking! Everything tastes great, smells clean and fresh too! I have no first thing in the morning and last thing at night heavy smokers phlegmy cough either, that stopped after a few days. So there ya go!

Helloooo!!!annihilator & munkymunky and thankyou loobie for starting the thread. My partners life was the positive reason for needing to give up ciggies he has high bp had a heart attack 5 years back and has one stent in heart, two in kidneys....well doc at main hospital wants to start all the tests again...ecg,angiogram,ct,mri because his bp has crept up despite the 15 tablets a day.So having to be the responsible adult out of the two of us I needed him to quit(my willpower is a bit better!).Researched e cigs bought a kit and BINGO!over a month now since either of us have touched a ciggie...I have to refill(slowly sneaking nic down!from 18 to 16),buy juice, clean clearo's but hey I hopefully get to keep my soul mate for longer. His dad passed at 40ish from a heart attack many years ago so theres a genetic link and he's 48 so fingers crossed vaping has given us extra time. This makes him sound like a kid but really he's our back bone I'm just the facts and figures he's the reality check that deals with every day life so vaping is keeping the yang to my yin!

I am just very lucky that i can eat whatever i want and not put on any weight, i think it comes from years and years of swimming, and now working in retail means lifting and carrying constantly and a play golf at the weekends, although since i switched to vaping i eat all the time because i can actually taste stuff now! but whatever works for you

It worked for me like that too! One (stupid!) reason I used for not stopping smoking was that it made me put on about a stone each time I tried before. And it seemed it was never the right time as there was always some event coming up that I "didn't want to look fat at"
But when I started vaping, I loved it that I didn't have the usual "bottomless pit" hunger that I normally got when quitting, the sweet juices satisfied my sweet tooth, and having something to do with my mouth and hands meant I wasn't mindlessly snacking. Just one reason vaping has really worked for me.
