I haven't come across any other mention of a really positive reason to vape as an alternative to smoking, maybe it's just my problem! I smoked for years and gave up a few times; cold turkey never worked but pregnancy (hormones), breast feeding (hormones) and acupunture (???) were all successful (not all options available to everyone). My problem was that I used to be fat, I lost a lot of weight and kept it off - until I stopped smoking. I did try hard but after about two years it always got to the point that I replace my wardrobe or start smoking again - both cost too much money but I preferred to be a smoker over being fat. It's only been two months without cigarettes rather than two years but I find that I am not eating constantly; I don't need to substitute food for fags. I don't believe it's just the nicotine factor, I think we're into Freudian territory here. Old fashioned but it works for me.

It's one of the reasons I gave myself for smoking as well Loobie, I just know I'd be constantly nibbling otherwise. Vaping more than fills that gap, especially with some of the delicious dessert and candy flavours available. All the pleasure without the calories and a nicotine fix as well! Plus shopping for ecig paraphernalia is considerably more fun than standing in a queue at Tesco's buying 300 ciggies every week.

Guy that looks after my laptop got himself a hooker pipe, he has never smoked in his life but he put on weight, he said that using the hooker stopped him from eating, something to do with his hands, so last time he was down i made up some nic free menthol loves it, he cant believe how easy it is to make the juice

There is a down side, my better half always get’s the munchies when I’m vaping something sweet, so she goes and raid the sweet cupboard.

Same here loobiebloo whenever I tried to give up or even just cut down smoking in the past, I would comfort eat so put on weight. But didn't put any weight on at all when I started vaping. Have sadly added a few pounds recently due to some meds I'm on but even started to lose those as well Quite a few folks that have a sweet tooth have posted saying they have not only not put on weight since vaping, but actually lost some due to vaping sweet flavoured e-liquids as it's curbed their craving for sweets & puddings etc. So it's been a double whammy for them

I've been stopped a year and have put a stone in weight on, i'm not eating any more or less than I used to as a smoker but I guess i'm not poisoning myself constantly anymore so healthier so a bit of weight has gone on. I have started using sweeteners in tea and coffee instead of sugar and since starting vaping I have gone right off chocolate and sweets anyway so fingers crossed it will stay as just one stone

I am a diabetic and with that comes responsibilities to not eat sweets and chocolates. I, on the other hand, am not that responsible and was having trouble curbing my sweets/chocolate fix ...... (tut, tut, tut I hear you doing now.). UNTIL, I started using my ego ce4 bought from a lovely man in the market where I live in Carlisle. I had always thought the e-cigs where rather price hefty until he started selling them, and now I got one I am hooked. It has not saved me any money up to now from smoking seeing as in the 4 weeks I have not smoked my usual 40 a day, I have purchased about 40 different flavour pre made liquids, 3 different small batteries, a vamo vv/vw v2, too many evod atomizers, yet more ce4 atomizers, a Terminator - C, and now I am looking into making my own flavours ..... I now can't afford to go out to buy sweets for a start, but with all the sweet flavours, fruit flavours, drink flavours ect, ect. I don't need to eat sweets or chocolate cause my tastes are honed to the juice. I have lost weight as well in the last 4 weeks I have lost 10lb cause I have been more active and not out of breath. This is my first post and hopefully you all enjoyed it .... and don't worry, I am looking at these purchases as an investment in my health, and now I have them I don't need to buy more, (I hope). HUGE THUMBS UP FOR THE E-CIG AND VAPING.

Hi Annihilator, I don't really like sweet stuff so I hadn't thought about this aspect; I just like puffing and want a nice taste which, for me, isn't too sweet. I have several friends who smoke and are diabetic; do you mind if I tell them what you said?

It's good to have a reason, i think it helps people stay motivated to stay off the fags.. Like friends who have give up fags will usually find any excuse to tell you how bad they are for you.. or my gym mates will tell me none stop about nutrition like it's an obsession.. For me, i enjoy smoking & i'm out socially quite a lot with smokers, so having an e-cig solves the hardest part of quitting for me, i may give up vaping one day, i may not, but at least it's not any where near as bad as smoking Good Luck!

Unlike most of you I didn't start vaping to give up the stinkies as I had been off them for 5 years when I started vaping (always craved nicotine during those 5 years). I have however lost weight since I started vaping so I reckon having a drip tip in your mouth for a lot of the time stops you putting food/sweets in it.

I stopped smoking jan to may using patches and ate like PAC man !!! Put 2 stone on in 2 months started smoking again and lost it ! Then started vaping and haven't had the urge to over eat at all ! Loving chocolate and mocha eliqids though !! It's a grat hobby and the shopping around is soooo addictive )

I ate like a PAC man (nice!)when I switched from smoking to vaping.
It's calmed down now, in fact I think it calmed down back in April. If vaping is now stopping me from snacking (which it probably does) I'm happy.
.... just got to lose the extra stone I put on in the first 6 months ...

I do find that vaping my popcorn liquid curbs my sweet tooth! Liquorice does too. When I quit cold turkey a few years ago I piled on about 2 stone with my nibbling! This time, I'm nearly at 4 months with not so much as a pound on.
