Just had a mail back from the USA company with regards to the fibreglass wick that we're currently using. It's $28.50 + $15 postage for 100 yards. I've mailed back to say that I'll confer with everyone then get back to them. I'll wait until mid next week and see what we here from the UK company with the silica wick, I think that may be a better option, but let's see what the costings are like.

No problem Ian, I'm getting it sorted Hopefully the wire will be here early next week. I'm sure that the wick is going to take a little longer but it's all positive.

As soon as I have the wire I'll post a message to say that it's arrived. There's going to be around 150 metres of one and 298 metres of the other so there's plenty to go around and if we run out I'll order some more.
I'm quite happy to keep it in stock here although I may start to moan when measuring and coiling it LOL!
Even with recorded delivery, unless I've made a serious error in maths, the total cost will be well under £3 for 5 metres of each wire.

I think the wick should be fairly cheap too. I'm just waiting to hear from the guy in the UK that does the silica wick, I'm pretty sure that it'll be just what we want and should reach us far quicker than ordering from the USA.

Someone on ECF says he gets good results with silica rope. I did a bit of searching and have found this place in the UK. No prices listed so we'd have to fire off an e mail. www.cheshireribbon.co.uk/products_03_d.aspAnyone willing to ask? silica wick vapes very good Lee. I am trying it just right now on the Iatty. I want to see its behavior in the next 2-3 days but it seems very good for now. The only reason that I didnt use it on Iatty was only because it gave me a strange taste at the beggining but I am sure it was because they store the rope in strange places. I say this because the inner fiber (I bought a very fat rope and I took some fibers from it to make my wick) didnt have a taste at all

That's good to know Imeo. There's a problem with the tiny O rings for the ceramic, mine split in half - may have to rethink that one

Hi dee, if the US company quoted you $15 for shipping that will be priority shipping I think and its normally 6 to 7 days in my experience, just something to keep at the back of your mind

The $15 was for pigeon post so think it may take a little longer than that. I think everyone has at least a couple of lengths of wick. Personally I'm finding the atties are lasting really well so it should hold out long enough. You only use about 3" if that per atty.
