Hey all, Need some advice. Maybe some of you read something somewhere or have friends/family in the same situation. My dad has been diagnosed with COPD for a few years now and despite all warnings he's still smoking. (Not as much as before he got ill, but he's still smoking away a few a day) He has to get admitted into a hospital every few months because he's out of breath, has very low oxygen saturation or has a common colds he can't get over without heavy medication. I went to my parents home today for dinner and all was fine with him but I noticed him sneaking outside 2 times and the last time he came from the garden I saw some smoke escape from his mouth. When he came in I could smell cigarettes on him while he was asking my mother is she could smell the "bbq on his clothes" (we have a bbq but he hasn't used it this week). We've all made up crazy stories in the past as to why we would smell of smoke... (noonoo mum, I just spend some time around a non existing campfire outside...) Him smoking that cigaret had an immediate impact on his "health". He suddenly became short of breath, started coughing loudly, and his heart rate went up a lot. So I was wondering... I can't get him to quit smoking, he can't get himself to quit smoking. Why not give him one of my e-cigs to replace the nicotine addiction? I don't know if it's a "good" alternative for him giving he has COPD. I know you don't have the tar and other chemicals like in a normal cigaret but I find that e-cig smoke is a bit thicker and heavier than regular smoke. Makes me wonder if this "heavier" smoke might be equally bad for his COPD... Sooooo, if anyone knows anything about this subject, please share this with me so I can make a "somewhat" informed decision. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I suffer with COPD and also asthma and emphysema. I gave up smoking it must be 3 year's or more and started vaping same day as i quit the fags
My health hasn't changed just hasn't got worse No matter what your dad does vaping won't make his condition go away. What it will do if he stops smoking he will have a better quality of life.
As far as I'm aware VG can with some folk make them breathless if you can convince your dad to start vaping I would suggest that his liquid to be 80 PG and 20 VG, and see how he gets on of course that is if he is intolerant to the VG.
You can only but try and get your dad to give vaping ago. At the end of the day that's up to him. The more people nag him the more he will dig his heels in I know it's your dad and you want what's best for him. Best of luck, please let us know how you get on.

Thats amazing, testdruif I think you have nothing to lose. May be worth giving him a strong tobacco juice, but at least you can say you tired.
