john321if I might add my suggestions based on what I use. 0.2 Kanthal A1 1.5 mm Silica (I double it over and it makes it easier to coil onto I find) Both available from: heregreat deals to be had currently have a sale on Silica. Ecowool fromm here as well, and it's not the Chinese crap either. worth a look me thinks

+1 for Super-Shiny's suggestion, I also use 2mm Ekowool and .2 Kanthal and it works well for me. A couple of tips - run a lighter or better still a small blowtorch over the Ekowool before using it (careful, it gets very hot!) - this makes it easier to work with, and you will get a clean cut/trim too. This also works well with the wire, takes the spring out of it and again makes it easier to work with. Also, use a small sewing needle or straightened paperclip to support the Ekowool while you are coiling. That way, you can wind quite tight knowing that when you slide the needle out afterwards, there is a bit of breathing space for the wick to absorb the juice around the coil. I find that 4 wraps will give me about 1.8ohm, and 5 just over 2ohm - I'm not too fussy, as long as it fires up! I lower my voltage right down and give it a few 2-second pulses of power to give the coil chance to bed in, then gradually increase the wattage/voltage over the course of a tank of juice. This means my coils last about a week. I don't bother about washing and dry-burning, just whip off the old coil and pop on a fresh new one; with the wick and wire costing peanuts, this is much easier. Plus there's nothing like a fresh new coil to excite me (I'm easily pleased!).

+1 for the above, the difference is I use 2 or 2.5 silica doubled over, 4 wraps of 0.2 kanthal and you get between 1.8 and 2.1 ohms, or at least I do! I just ordered a load of rebuildable supplies from them, the vape mesh company, and they are very efficient and very good value. www.vape-atomizer-mesh.com/

john321 you're welcome - do post again if you need any more help or advice; we've all been there and made all the mistakes (in my case, all of the mistakes many many times!!).
