How to stop the rubber burn taste in protank heads?

So re coiled the heads that came with my pro tanks over weekend. All working a treat now but that breaking in period of 5 to 10 minutes of a horrible burnt rubber taste is awful. Is there anyway to stop this using normal wire?

Double up the legs, read somewhere that works.....or res/non res wires.

Double up the legs? How can kanger manage but we cant on a normal coil?

The legs that touch the rubber grommet, instead of a single strand of wire bend them to make two wires on each leg.

Since doing my coils as close to each other as possible it has stopped

Standard heads are res/non res wires. This was one of many reasons I sacked the protanks.

Just found this while having a nosey round the tinterweb. Might help people if they are just starting out with re coiling pro tank heads.

"Been rebuilding Vivi Nova heads for 9 months or so and the Pro Tank is virtually identical. Never doubled up wire on legs, never used no-resistance wire, never had a burnt insulator. Make sure the new wick is saturated before you vape and bring your voltage/power up slowly to break in the new coil. If you taste burnt flavor, turn it down! You're vaping, not arc welding."

Roscopecotrain another thing i do with every new re-build is once it is all done i pulse the wick/coil about 3-4 times, 1st = 2 seconds, 2nd = 3 seconds, 3rd = 3 seconds, 4th = 4 seconds.

It gets rid of any impurities on the wick/coil, you will see smoke come of it and then fade away after the 4th pulse, i rather the smoke out in the open rather than in my tank

Apologies if this is a stupid question. With the price of a Kanger coil pack of 5 for around a fiver, the hit and miss of re-wicking, isn't it easier just to buy a pack?

hey, no question is ever stupid on here, granted factory heads are available at very good price, but the sheer joy of being able to build to the exact spec that you want is very infectious.

I have been using the same evod head for over 5mths now, i just re-build and it's good to go again, saves me a fortune in buying new heads and P+P charges
