I went to an e-cig store today to pick up a Protank 2 for my new iTaste 3.0 kit. As I've not been happy with the e-juice I'm currently using (18mg Old Holborn from Paradise Vape), I described to the girl behind the counter what I'm looking for, and what I was currently vaping. She suggested that I try a 10 ml Hangsen sample, and gave me this tobacco flavoured liquid. It is 24mg. After cleaning the Protank to get rid of any manufacturing oils that may lie inside (as per Super-Shiny trips and tricks), letting it dry for a few hours, I assembled the tank, poured in some of the new e-juice and vaped. Wow! Now that hit me like the proverbial brick LOL. Now I need to figure out what was the cause of the improvement. E-juice or change of tank (used iClear16 until that point). If it's the juice, are there better brands than Hangsen, Dekang and Liqua?

Those brands are good, dekang would be my fave of those, better well that's subjective, there are a lot of brands that do their own flavours that you can't get anywhere else. The HS range is pretty good.

They sometimes get a bad rep but I've enjoyed both Hangsen and Dekang in the past - in fact out of the three PV's in front of me now, one has my own DIY vanilla custard and the other two have Dekang menthol.

xrayspecs Could never get on with Dekang for some reason, Hangsen have been fine in the past. Irrelevant now, as like yourself prefer to mix my own concoctions to my personal taste.

Yes, I used to prefer Hangsen and hadn't used any premade liquid for a while but when I heard someone complain that Dekang Menthol tasted like humbugs it sounded interesting. Glad I tried it because it's just what I need to reboot my taste buds after too much custard lol.

The thing i've found with hangsen's juices is they're a bit potent, if its called strawberry that's exactly what you get, 100% full on sweet strawberry, no subtle flavours there at all, they hit you like a brick, and beware of their "New Vanilla", they decided to make it some kind of menthol flavour, i found it was like trying to smoke Vicks vapour rub!

Results from a quick Google seem to indicate that Hangsen RY4 is a good all day vape. It appears to be recommended to be used as a base for mixing, and not as a standalone? Would I gain anything by steeping my sample, e.g. by leaving the top off for a week or so?

Not really, should be well steeped when it gets to you, a lot of folks find it a little sweet though,so only go for a small amout to start.

doctorjellybeanif you have moved onto I16s, they are a dual coil so the vape and flavour is greatly enhanced..only problem with them is they suck juice like a sponge. A V12 car engines uses less fuel than an I16!!! Coke, Dr Pepper, Red Bull .... think I'll pass

18mg to 24mg is actually quite a hike in nic. If you were used to 18, then 24 will give you a much bigger kick. Protank and iClear are very different vapes, most people vastly prefer one of the other but not both. I'm in the iClear camp all the way, but I keep archers on the perimeter watching out for the BBC fans There is also the pg/vg ratio to take into account with any juice, vg being much softer on the throat.

Can I be honest. (??)... bearing in mind taste is subjective
I have tried over 20 Dekang, probably 15+ Hangsen and more or less the entire liqua range.
Of these, I find Liqua the most insipid and bland, by a long way too. Even weird flavours like "grape" and "berry" (which are not the nicest, but at least have quite strong flavours) leave me disappointed. There are a few half decent tobaccos, "Bright" is OK, and "Turkish" certainly one to try.... I bought 30ml of "Traditional" from fasttech (the only liquid I ever bought from there...in with another order).. but it remains mostly unvaped.
I detest RY4 with a passion, but happily vape RY6 (both Hangsen). I have purchased and vaped Menthol sensation, Impulse, Storm.
I'm currently working my way through 4 Dekang from myepack. No bad ones, but no "keepers" either. Kind of on the fence. (Western Conqueror is quite nice, I wrote a review). Dekang DK tab was what got me off the fags, so fair play.
I would really like to love one or two of these liquids, but have yet to find a super one.
I guess what I am saying is my "hit rate" is too low with these brands and I shan't ever buy Liqua again. Even the Citrus (I love Citrus) was just so dull.
I'm not giving up though...and RY6 will always be in my vape box.
