Oooh, I do like my veggies, I shall give that a whirl!! Thanks Jaguar7777! I don't want to give it up totally, just not drink it exclusively like I do, it can't be doing my tummy any good!! It had my Dad's Heart racing like an F1 car. He was an emergency case, the Doctor even drove him to hospital rather than wait for an ambulance. When I got the Discharge sheet and read "Caffeine addiction" I was astounded. He is so much happier and healthier now he stays off the coffee and the fizzy drinks. But yes, I don't know if it will work for you or not, but as I said, changing my diet really helped me giving up smoking. Jag. (Loves baby courgettes soaked in butter .....)

how many caffeine drinks per day sassy? I was drinking about 10 mugs of tea and slowly cut down to about 5 of tea and 3 of decaffeinated. Also drink water in between which tastes boring but i feel better for it. I cant be doing with the palpitations from having too much caffeine. Try alternating each coke with a water till you are on only half as many cokes in a day over say a period of a couple of months rather than doing it too quickly

For the older members of this forum, you may remember that I was hospitalised last October for high blood pressure. Shortly after that I once again visited Treliske, this time because of palpitations. After interrogation, it transpired that because I had been rehearsing the Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestra all day, buoyed up by cups of strong coffee, that I had over-dosed, and this was causing my palpitations. I actually think that my coming off the cigarettes was partially to blame, and now restrict myself to a maximum of 2 cups of coffee a day, and none after midday, otherwise I feel the heart race in a none too reassuring way. Red wine - now that's another matter altogether, although I have been very good, and only drink a couple of glasses 2 or 3 times a week, with at least 2 dry days. God, I'm SO BORING!!!

It takes a while Sassy but the alternating thing works so much better than cold turkey..... for nicotine, pills, booze, whatever, in my opinion that is
