No probs with leaking at all Roscopecotrain , except when I flew with it to Switzerland 2 weeks ago, although hasn't leaked on the last 3 flights in the last 2 weeks. I have 7 wraps at about 1.7 or 1.9 ohms so bang on for my Vamo. Can't wait to get my new Magneto top cap next week so my Dripper fits the Magneto andI can build a 1ohm and run it! Could you do me a picture of how much cotton you have in the head please gapy. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

I have just fine a micro using .37 Kanthal even better. Got some.42, some.45 and some.5 Kanthal to try over the next few days. 8 wraps around a1.5mm drill bit gives me.9ohms. Never really understood this ohms malarkey but getting the hang of it now.

Saw a vid showing that the .42 is hard enough to pull silica through without damaging the coil. It is dam thick though. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

It is the internal diameter that is important so for cotton wool wick, a 16th inch drill bit is the same whatever thickness of Kanthal you use.
Edit. Metric drill bit equivalent is 1.5mm.

1.5mm seems to be the optimum that most people use but having said that, some are moving towards. Nano-coils wound around a thin paper clip with 16 plus wraps...Not sure how you would thread anything through that lol.

Right i have found what i think is somewhere near a 1.5mm screwdriver for wrapping the coils, small size as well so perfect for my coiling box. The first screwdriver i used is massive compared to this one, more like 2.5mm, will this make a difference to the vape greigster? longer to heat the coil up?

This should make a huge difference Rosco. If you do 10 wraps of the .30, it should give you about 1.8 to 2ohms. Once you have wound the Kanthal, pull both legs nice and tight whilst still on the screwdriver. I then compress the coil in some tweezers and heat it to glowing. let it cool for about 10 seconds still compressed. Then set up your attie with the coil. You then fire your mod so the coil glows, release the fire button and immediately compress the coil again with the tweezers for about 10 seconds. (make sure you do not fire the mod whilst compressing the coil) Do this 2 or 3 times. Then thread your cotton wool through the coil by rolling one end to a point, but with cotton wool, less is more.

I'm really enjoying the Micro coils but to be honest I'd sooner use the 3mil wick doubled over, can't get on with cotton they seems to dry out a lot quicker than my silica wicks. My last setup lasted 4 week without changing anything and it was only because I fancied making another coil I took it out.

Thanks greigster, i have been doing the compressing on the mod so i am doing things right which is good, will try the smaller coils later and see what happens. Thank you.
