xs2man, I was wondering what are the reasons they don't allow ecigs but allow proper smokes? If it is on rigs I would have thought fags are more dangerous?

It's basically because the e-liquid is classed as a poison.
That and the fact you aint allowed lighters offshore, so the only way to get a light is in the smoko's. So actual cigarettes don't pose a spark hazard, but I don't know of any e-cigs that are ex proof. So having a pack of smokes in your pocket, while not really allowed, aren't gonna cause a risk of sparking. But an e-cig might. So you can't carry them with you all the time, and hey, everybody forgets sometimes...

Not sure about the coil mind. And the poison issue, I guess when you get to zero nic you'll be ok :-) Good luck out there I hope you can find a compromise

Meh. I really don't mind if I have to smoke out there. I didn't quit for health or financial reasons. Just for the craic. I smoked the last time I was offshore, and came back and back on ecigs with no issues.
Just like last weekend. I went out clubbing and just smoked because I didn't trust ecigs in my pocket when I was out for a bounce. I got home afterwards, after smoking 10 cigs, and transitioned back to ecigs without any issues.
As far as the psychological part of analogues goes, I'm over it. I can swap back and forth at will. So I'm pretty confident either way that it wont affect me too much.
