Hi there, this is my first post here I'm here as a direct result of the Groupon deal so I guess the folk commenting that it can only be a good thing above are right although it'd be nice to think more people found their way here as a result of the deal too. I bought the E-Lites and immediately went into 'geek mode' and started looking around the net for more info and eventually found this forum which has been a mine of information, not all of which I've got my head round yet I have t admit. I've had the E-Lites since Friday and have had one "analog" (is that what you guys call 'em?) since then, more in order to ease myself away from them than because I was desperate for one (I was having a drink at the time though). I'm not a massively heavy smoker, around 10 roll ups (Golden Virginia with filters) a day, so I don't reckon I'll save masses of money but I'm keen to cut them out so I can get fitter and healthier. Like many I've read about the usual medically approved cessation methods (gum, patches etc.) proved useless for me so I'm hoping e-cigs are the real deal! The E-Lites are okay and seem to be doing the job but I am aware (now I've read a bit) that there are better options so I'd be interested if anyone has any recommendations as to what kit I look into getting, particularly given I've been a roll up rather than a 'straight' smoker (different taste etc.). I'd also love something that has a smaller end (is there a technical term) to put in my mouth and is maybe lighter than the E-Lites. Anyway, great forum but wow there does seem to be a lot to learn!

Hello & welcome Rog Really pleased that you have found your way here Sounds like you are doing well with the e-lite Yes there are much better e-cigs than the super-mini you have. The one we tend to recommend to most folks is the Riva/ego, but as you are a relatively light smoker, I'm wondering if a mini like a 510 or DSE901 would suffice you? Only problem with the mini's is that you wouldn't be able to use LR (Lower Resistance) atomises with them - they give a much better throat hit than standard atomisers. Have a look at this thread to get an idea of some of the different e-cigs - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=newmembers&thread=2349&page=1#54694Do you mind if I move your post to a new thread in the New members section? You'll get more folks seeing it there & coming & saying hi to you

Hi Chrissie, thanks for the welcome and useful advice No problem moving the post to a new thread although some of my comments are referring to posts here in this thread so you might have to edit it so it makes sense ... although I'm used to making no sense at all in the real world so what the hell I'll take a look at the thread you recommend right away, thanks again

Hi Rog and welcome, nice to see you here. I started on a super mini too, they do the job fine to get you started and certainly do enough to give an understanding of an alternative. You'll soon be an expert, have fun

Thanks for moving the post Chrissie - for anyone puzzled by the Groupon reference I'm referring above to the deal mentioned in the New Groupon deal thread here. Thanks for the welcome deesigner and VE Jason; yes deesigner the E-Lite seems to do the job and so far and the battery has been fine, I'm still on my first cartridge with 4 more to go so I guess the kit will last me for a good few days yet which will give me time to consider options and start to understand how it all works - I hope as you say I'll be an expert soon Now, back to some of Chrissie's comments earlier: Yes there are much better e-cigs than the super-mini you have. A good combination of throat hit and taste would be best I think, I'm kinda used to this with the rollies and it would be nice to replicate that as much as possible. Interesting thread indeed and what an array of options, I can see I'm going to have to think a bit about the best kit to get but any and all advise you guys can give would be appreciated, are you also able to recommend good online retailers? Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question but I'm presuming the best option is to buy liquid separately and explore those options once I've settled on some good kit rather than looking for pre filled?

Your best bet is definately to buy the liquid seperately Rog. It's a lot more economical than buying prefilled cartridges or cartomisers.
It sounds like your next step will be to a Riva or Ego which will give you the longer battery life and greater liquid capacity.
Throat hit is obtained by both the nicotine content and the balance of PG/VG within the e-liquid. PG gives more throat hit at the expensive of flavour/vapour and vice versa.

VE Jason, thanks for that. Okay, I'll look at liquid as well - can you recommend anything that will mimick the taste of a light tobacco like Golden Virginia? Also on the juice issue do I have to get any extra kit to fill up the e-ciggy or would that all be supplied with the 2 you recommend? With regards the Riva and Ego what are the advantages/disadvantages of each? BTW I had to look at the e-cigarette Wiki to understand your last couple of sentences lol

The new Flavourart range have some light tobacco's in them Rog. Particularly 'Royal' and 'Shade'. If you want to go a touch heavier then the Premixed Hangsen liquid 'Winson' has a bit more kick. E-liquids are awkward to recommend because everyone tastes something different in each one and as your taste buds change you will grow to love ones that you previously hated and vice versa. The kits that I sell come with a sample of Grizwald's Gourmet Recipes, but that is just to give you a free taster and they are mostly sweet e-liquids, so I would recommend buying some extra. Most people would recommend the Riva as a great starting point. It tends to be less troublesome than the Ego-T (occasional leaking tanks) and is pretty much plug and play. There are ongoing costs with e-smoking, such as atomisers and cartomisers, but compared with traditional cigs it is far less (providing that you don't buy every new shiny object that you see). Hope that helps and I'm sure others will give their views

Rog, you aren't going to get an e-liquid that tastes exactly like Golden Virginia. One of my favourite tobacco flavoured juices is drum from Paradise vapes - (looks like James is out of stock of it at the moment though paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/index.php/cName/ejuice-tobaccoVery little difference between the Ego & Riva - The Riva is just an eGo clone & tends to be cheaper. Jason's Riva kit is a good price & comes with everything (apart from juice) that you would need - use discount code Allabout for 10% off - www.vapeescape.co.uk/riva-1100-kit~151Edit - I crossed posts with Jason

Thanks again Chrissie and Jason - okay, the Riva kit sounds good As for liquids I guess I'll start with Royal and Shade as recommended and then take it from there, I guess 10ml bottles would be sensible whilst I'm sampling - how many puffs does that size typically give? If anyone has any other recommendations please fire away - I'm at the stage where every bit of advice is of value (coz I'm pretty clueless lol) VE Jason, I'll put in an order later today I guess, will give it a few hours before I do though just in case there's more advice and recommendations, particularly with regards the liquid. Seems like this e-smoking business is gonna become a bit of a hobby lol!

The Royal and Shade are 30ml sizes Rog, the Winson and Hangsen premix are available in 10ml. I personally use around 3ml per day so that gives you an idea. If you want to stick to 10ml sizes, just try the premixed Hangsen (Winson and Gold & Silver are good choices) and I will add a couple of small samples of the Shade and Royal for you to 'try before you buy'. Any questions, just keep asking. It's the best way to get the information

Thanks Jason, a sample of those two would be great I was figuring 10ml would be best for sampling just in case I don't particularly like a 'flavour' and I've just realised my confusion over sizes was because I was reading mg as ml - dumb huh, lol! And here's the next question: now I've realised that they come in different strengths (I presume that's what the mg refers to) what strength do you recommend in these given I'm wanting a decent flavour and hit from them and have been smoking rolling tobacco (albeit with filters)?

I always recommend medium Rog. You can then adjust in either direction if needed.
From surveys, the majority of people vape in the 18-24mg bracket.

Medium would be 16/18mg in the Gold and Silver and 18mg in the Winston?
