It's how I started because I thought it was the least ostentacious way to go and I wasn't sure it would work. I didn't go supermarket because of the cost (same as cigarettes and more than rollies) and bought an Innokin AIO PCC which is a really nice little kit and worked a treat but I soon found that the faff of refilling the carts was driving me nuts which is how I eventually stumbled across AAEC and learned more. Unless advertising rules are changed, the cig-a-likes are an obvious first step and to ban them would leave nothing but NRT. The thread is about cigalikes not other PVs , no mention of the word BAN. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Lol, I thought you wanted peoples views mybad - maybe a poll would have been better after all?

My intro to vaping was through E-lites (sometimes i felt the e-lite was suking the life out of me instead of the other way round) but unless i had found this forum i would of soon given up .They are ok as an intro and i wouldn't ban them .Indirectly they stopped me smoking .

mybad the AIO is a cig-a-like, just a posh one! And 'banned' / 'discontinued'? Is there a difference, really?

I tried them and found the claims they were the equivalent to 40 fags a great disappointment, but I figured at the time that would be the first step to something better one day.
Now PV's are getting more and more popular and word is spreading ( I think I made 2 converts today) I still think they have a place for someone wanting to give it a go without having to go to a great expense. IMHO

I have listened and watched a lot of programmes discussing vaping, the pros and cons, and I must admit to feeling a bit sad the way e cig look-a-like is ridiculed by the public, 'They look so silly putting those false cigarettes ' in their mouths and the bright blue/red and green pretend light it gives off', this is pure ignorance as they nothing about batteries, cartomisers, liquid and mods. I would like to see them eventually phased out as vaping becomes more established, and people go straight to the vaping systems that we know and love. Education, education!

You started the thread asking if cigalikes should be discontinued but gave no reason at all as to what prompted the question. They have introduced a lot of people to vaping. Some people go straight to better models (like me, I hated the idea of cigalikes) but any intro to vaping is better than none. Before I started vaping I discussed e cigs with people on a footy forum (believe it or not) and some people hated the idea of a fake cig, they would feel stupid with one of those. Other people it doesn't bother them and it's step one into researching forums exactly like this one and finding better options. I have to say I read most of your posts on this thread and you seem to be looking for confrontation while offering no opinions or solutions which isn't really any help to anyone.

I'm not sure I would have started vaping if my only option was something altogether different, mybad. My first forays online into the world of vaping left me confused and bewildered! It's a whole new language to learn, plus the technology side. I went for a little bit of both with the added bonus of a back up power pack for my phone! I also thought that the familiarity of having a 'cigarette' between my fingers would make it easier - and it did, initially. I gradually found the faff of filling and recharging was an annoyance but didn't consider an alternative until I started looking at different flavoured juices and stumbled across AAEC. I definitely felt a bit weird when I unleashed my itaste vv and iclear16s to the greater public (I bypassed egos entirely!). Until information is out there and easily accessible, even to people with no or limited internet access, then I think that the cig-a-likes are an important first step. Some people still prefer them, there is a new poster on the site (can't remember name) who just wants a cheaper version, not interested in alternatives.

Oh definitely no - its already been said its a good introduction and a stepping stone in the big vaping world. For me personally without the cigalike being around when I first started, probably still be smoking the disgusting stinkies today. Hail the cigalike although the cig bit in the word is crap

I totally agree phoenix they are the stigma the binding link to the appearance of smoking which needs to be cut out and dissociated with. visually why would you want people to think you're smoking a cigarette if you're trying to stop smoking.

Personally I think they are OK (although I didn't use one) because they mimic a Cig people don't feel as self conscious when they use it, just yesterday I got talking to a guy on my vape break who did even know about mods and attys etc, so I spent 5 mins explaining my Vamo and protank, and suggested he could actually have a go at refilling the carto on the cigalike. Told him to pop up and see me and I would let him refill from any of my juices to give it a go. Also suggest he log on here and have a browse and ask any questions. And suggested he have a look at an evod type kit as the next step. He also wants to get his dad onto vaping as he has health issues. So we will see how that pans out. He had just put a new carto on the battery so hopefully ill see him later this week when it runs out So I think they are a good first step to get off the stinkies

As long as people see what appears to be smoke any and all e cigs will be associated with smoking. There is no chance at all of removing that association. The best plan is to educate people that these devices pose no threat to them whatsoever. If we can manage that it won't matter what the e cigs look like.

I have seen cheaper and better intros than cigalikes but the kind of people who look into e cigs for the first time only ever see the ones in supermarkets or come across some clown selling them in a mall.
