Been very busy organizing something a bit different for our local scout group where I am a scout ans beaver leader.
Tomorrow approx 25 children + leaders will be going to a WWII living history day. South West WWII re-enactment group have kindly agreed to set up demonstrations ans exhibits for the children. I am putting on a war time lunch for everyone. Just hear someone has got a 1940's radioand will play one of the most famous messages from Winston Churchill.
This is the first day activity I have organised, not even organised one for a single section before. Just hope the children have a great day and come away with a better understanding of what everyone had to suffer during the wars.

Sounds great! What's in the wartime lunch? Powdered eggs and bully beef?

War time lunch is sandwiches, spam, tomatoes and cucumber with carrot sticks, tea loaf and apples and a limited supply of cheese and scones, just to show not everyone could have what they wanted some had to go without. Tea not juice, although we will let the children have juice if they hate tea.
They will also be plane spotting, looking at war time vehicles including an ambulance and motorbike, knitting, weighing sweets and making sugar mice. Making Christmas decorations from newspaper and paper hats if I remember to take everything.

Yea everything went really well. Children behaved and most importantly they all enjoyed the day and learnt quite a lot about WWII.
Didn't sit down from 9.30 til I got home at 4.15 totally shattered but pleased it all went smoothly. Only thing that couldn't be done was search rescue by a dog because of the rain.
