Speaking as a person of the Masculine gender (see PC in description) I always assumed (perhaps inncorrectly) that the Feminine gender understood we do not not suffer from selective hearing.
We merely to choose to ignore the mundane and irrelevant chatter around us.(it's an art aquired over time)
