I like simple things, that's why I stopped torching my mesh a long time ago, I do like the wicking you get with rope, I have been puttitn a thin rope in the center of my wicks for ages, Mostly because I already had some 1.5 rope, the I decided it was time to try so fatter stuff. theninthe interests of simplicity I had a play, no mesh just wrap the wire directly on the rope. not a great success with round kanthal, but ribbon wire seems ok, so I have tried a few different setups.

From my recent experiments with microcoils I would suggest you try the SS rope with the mesh top combined with a microcoil made with 0.25mm Kanthal A1.
Wicks like a demon and the flavour is very, very good. Because the wire is thincker the coil is far more durable as well meaning pulling the rope and mesh out for dry burning is very, very easy.
