... it's more about the ritual and the punctuation Smoking gave me during the day thats why I Vape, the "Messing About wi Summat" fills a need I seem to have. Like I said I'm aiming (touchwood) to be Nicotine free within 12 months, but I don't see myself stopping Vaping, its not a bad Habit like Smoking was, and gives me something to focus on. I never thought ritual had much hold over me. Then I realised, I am a numpty. I had a packet of GV and AL in my box and most of the time + some loose tobaccos - light burley, dutch mix and cherry or Vanilla too. Then, all the different papers and filters etc. I love vaping, and reckon I am so into it because of the messing about/experimenting. This time last year, I was vaping 12mg. I've tended to stick to 18mg this year. Maybe in the new year, I'll go back down, and then to 6mg in the summer. (or not... )

I've cut down recently on Nicotine content in my Juice from 18mg to 12mg and haven't found myself Vaping more, or not noticeably so, but I have noticed the strange tingling feeling I was getting in my fingers has lessened. I'm wondering if it had been caused by Nicotine? Anyway a friend who Smokes asked me how much Nicotine I was taking in when I Vaped. I dont know!! I looked on her Fag packet and it said 0.5mg Nicotine, but is that per Drag, per Cigarette, or Per Pack??? I am trying to work out, basically, if I'm Vaping LOADS MORE Nicotine than I was getting from Cigarettes. I know the amount of Nicotine will be more the stronger the Nicotine content, but how does it compare with Cigarettes?? I'm hoping to Vape Nicotine free at some point in the next year, and would appreciate if anyone has any knowledge. The average cigarette contains 10mg of nicotine, that is per cig. ( fact ) So 20 ciggies = 200mg.
However the average amount of nicotine that a person gets in their system from each cig is 1mg. ( apparently )
If you were prescribed an inhalator from the gp, you would be using 6 x 15mg cartridges per day, so 90mg daily.
The amount you get in your system from it I can not find documented.
What this does show is that by inhaling nicotine in any fashion you only get a percentage of it in your system . So vaping 12mg juice, if you use 3ml per day that would be 36mg, but even if you get half that in your system it is still less than 20 ciggies.

Cheers sammy13, is that Inhalator dosage the amount that a GP would normally Prescribe for a 20 a day Smoker?? 90mg SEEMS a lot, but I am assuming that like Vaping not all the Nicotine from an Inhalator is absorbed.

Hi, yes 6 cartridges per day is what you get prescribed as a 20 a day smoker. Infact I was a ten a day smoker when I got offered it as I had already cut down. Then when I started vaping and went into say goodbye they still offered me it using 6 cartridges a day even though I had not had a ciggie for 2 days.
I thought 90mg was a lot as well, I asked about it but was just told you don't absorb all the nicotine, but neither the gp nor the stop smoking nurse could tell me how much you do absorb. So I came home and checked it all up as like yourself I thought ciggies only contained 1mg ish each. I was shocked when I found out that the average ciggie has 10mg, some upto 20mg each.
This is the inhalator I was offered, and of which I am referring to - others may be different www.nicorette.co.uk/products/inhalator
Forgot to say - you can also use other nrt products at the same time, so you could for example use the gum at the same time so increasing the nicotine

Ooh, that will be interesting, thanks I will take a look.
Just out of interest, why can't anyone do tests? What I mean is - obviously people have tested how much nicotine is absorbed by a person when they smoke a ciggy. I'm not scientific at all so I don't know the ins and outs, and whys and wherefores , but it has been done, and people can have their question answered. How much nicotine do you absorb from 1 ciggie on average.
Why can't or haven't tests been done with e-cigs, so that people know for every 1ml of xmg liquid you absorb x amount? I bet it is one of the most asked questions.
I personally have not seen any evidence to suggest nicotine in small amounts will hurt me, and providing you have no allergies or health problems that would be worsened by vaping then it has to be the better option to smoking. I have no desire to cut down my nicotine levels , I had to stop smoking due to copd.
I have tried juices in all strengths out of curiosity, and for me the difference between 18 and 15 is nothing, the drop to 12 I notice I vape more, anything less is useless for me. However I don't think any of us would want to increase our nicotine dependency, so why have tests not been done? Or have they and I have missed them??
