I've cut down recently on Nicotine content in my Juice from 18mg to 12mg and haven't found myself Vaping more, or not noticeably so, but I have noticed the strange tingling feeling I was getting in my fingers has lessened. I'm wondering if it had been caused by Nicotine? Anyway a friend who Smokes asked me how much Nicotine I was taking in when I Vaped. I dont know!! I looked on her Fag packet and it said 0.5mg Nicotine, but is that per Drag, per Cigarette, or Per Pack??? I am trying to work out, basically, if I'm Vaping LOADS MORE Nicotine than I was getting from Cigarettes. I know the amount of Nicotine will be more the stronger the Nicotine content, but how does it compare with Cigarettes?? I'm hoping to Vape Nicotine free at some point in the next year, and would appreciate if anyone has any knowledge.

It's not realy possible to do the calculation, When my wife smoked she got about 10% of what I did from each one. She would light them, then put them in an ashtray to burn themselves out. How much of the nic anyone gets from each ciggy would require blood tests To establish.

Copied from e-cig.com
E-Liquid vs Cigarette One of the most common questions about an Electronic cigatette relates to which e-liquid nicotine strength is equivalent to a particular kind of cigarette that a person smokes. To better answer this question, it is better to understand how much nicotine is contained in the E-Liquid you are inhaling. We define the density of nicotine inside E-Liquid as the followings: - Non nicotine: 0 mg nicotine, which equivalents to No Nicotine. - Low density: 6 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Ultra Light Strength Cigarettes. - Medium density: 12 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Medium Strength Cigarettes. - High density: 18 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Regular Strength Cigarettes. - XHigh density: 24 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Strong Cigarettes. - XXHigh density: 36 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Very Strong Cigarettes. - XXXHigh density: 48 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Super Strong Cigarettes. The nicotine density listed for E-Liquid is the number of milligrams of nicotine per milliliter in the E-Liquid. That means a 10ml bottle of 24mg nicotine e-liquid would have 240mg of nicotine in it (24mg x 10ml). Likewise, a 30ml bottle of 24mg e-liquid would have 720mg of nicotine in it (24mg x 30ml). Different brands of cigarettes vary in terms of their nicotine content. Normally nicotine constitutes approximately 0.6-3.0% of dry weight of tobacco in a cigarette. Obviously a longer 100ml cigarette has more nicotine in it than a standard or king size 84ml cigarette. For the most part, though, here is, for example, the amount of nicotine that is in a typical 84ml tobacco cigarette: If you smoke Regular cigarettes, like a Marlboro Red, for instance, there's approximately 1.2mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 24mg of nicotine per pack (1.2mg x 20 cigarettes). If you smoke Light cigarettes, like a Marlboro Light, for instance, there are approximately 0.7mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 14mg of nicotine per pack (0.7mg x 20 cigarettes). If you smoke Ultra Light cigarettes, like a Marlboro Ultra Light, for instance, there's approximately 0.5mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 10mg of nicotine per pack (0.5mg x 20 cigarettes). When you refill your e-cartridges with E-Liquid, you may need to know how much nicotine is contained in your refilling e-liquid. There are approximately 20 drops of e-liquid per milliliter. So, using our 24mg nicotine e-liquid once again as an example, there would be 1.2mg of nicotine per drop (24mg/20 drops). So, if you put three drops of e-liquid onto a e-cartridge (or directly onto the atomizer for those of you that direct-drip), that means you will be taking in 3.6mg of nicotine from the time you start vaping until you top off again. The amount as well as the feeling of the nicotine absorbed by the body from electronic cigarette smoking depends on many factors, including the density of the nicotine in e-liquid, the electronic cigarette vaporing quantity, the smoking frequency and timing, and the smoking inhaling respiration. Actually the nicotine in the E-Liquid can not be absorbed completely by the smoker. For instance, if you inhale 1 ml of E-Liquid which contains 24 mg of nicotine, it does not mean that you absorb all the 24 mg of nicotine. You may only absorb about 40-65% of the nicotine according to your personal smoking habit. It should be noted that, although it is highly addictive, no studies have shown nicotine to be a carcinogen. It is simply the fix that cigarette smokers crave. It is recommended that those who have a demonstrated sensitivity to nicotine, are pregnant or breastfeeding or who have unstable heart conditions, should discuss the use of any E-Liquid with a doctor before using.

allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/87/liquid-strength-guidethis thread may or may not help keepitgoinWhat I was trying to illustrate in those quotes was the amount of nicotine that can be used in NRTs. Nicotine seems to be absorbed less from e-cigs etc than from ciggies. My own opinion, use a high enough e juice so that substituting e-cigs for tobacco is easy, then, only if you want to and at your own pace, cut down the nicotine content in the juice gradually, (always keep some high strength juice for back up just incase) I chain smoked rollies, settled very early on on 18mg now usually vape around 15mg but due to the better delivery systems get through a whole lot more juice, doesn't bother me a jot though

What can I say. (There's loads of good stuff on here already). I was under the impression the nicotine YIELD (machine tested, so "under" in all likelihood) on a cigarette is the number stated on the pack. A lot of the popular cigarettes are between 0.7mg and 1.0mg per cigarette. The total nicotine before smoking is approx 10x the YIELD. In other words, a good medium-strong (but not mad!) ciggy has about 7-10mg. The YIELD from Vaping is unknown, but empirical evidence (oooh, get me...) suggests somewhere between 30-50% (maybe 40-60%) of the total juice used, dependent on vaping style. I reckon the lower number is more likely (for me). I waste a lot of vapour blowing rings and trying not to fully inhale a fair bit of the time

Apparently most of the nicotine is absorbed in the mouth rather than in the lungs.

Yep Karma I was a Very Heavy Rollie Smoker, but I don't think I miss Nicotine that much, it's more about the ritual and the punctuation Smoking gave me during the day thats why I Vape, the "Messing About wi Summat" fills a need I seem to have. Like I said I'm aiming (touchwood) to be Nicotine free within 12 months, but I don't see myself stopping Vaping, its not a bad Habit like Smoking was, and gives me something to focus on. My Youth play on their Phones when they have a space in time, I treat Vaping the same way!

When I first started vaping I didn't have a clue what mg liquid to get. I don't know if I did this right but it seemed to work. I looked on the pack of ciggies I had and it said 1.8mg so I just assumed (maybe rightly or wrongly) that I should choose 1.8 or 18mg and that's what I ordered and as I said it worked for me I am now down to 15mg and have just mixed some juice at 13mg. As that worked for me, anyone I introduce to vaping I apply the same method with them and so far that has appeared to work for them too

It amazes me how many vape novices or non vapers who you have a conversation with say. "Yeh but it's still got nicotine in them which will nake your teeth and fingers go all yellow."
The misconceptions about nicotine is truly amazing.
The best way to describe it is tell them it's just like caffeine. People are hooked on fizzy drinks and coffee and have no problem, the problem with smoking is the smoke. If you remove the smoke your getting rid of everyrhing but the habit. And other than spending money on it, whats wrong with a neutral habit which I enjoy?
