The only way I have managed to set off a fire alarm is by deliberately blowing vape into the fire alarm detection window. This was as a test. I have tried it on smoke alarms in a few friend's homes and my own apartment.
It also depends on if the fire detector is optical or air sampling type. I suspect the optical alarm will go off more easily. I have not come across a optical type in a residential property.

Good to know, I don't want to go setting off hotel room alarms any time soon! They had better not bring in a 'non vaping' rule or i'll spit!!

They had better not bring in a 'non vaping' rule or i'll spit!! How will they ever know we have been vaping in an hotel room!? No odour, leaking carcinogenic smoke wafting around the corridor, no stinky ashtray, no fag burns in the sheets - just possibly a pleasant aroma which could be attributed to various other activities

I never ever want to suffer another nicotine starved night in a classy hotel -- where I spend half my time traipsing to back door/next to kitchens/back jigger when I've paid £100 plus to smoke next to rotting rubbish! Its part of the reason I quit paying for quality hotels and booked 'Days Inn' motels 'cos some let you smoke I can actually name the branches/chains and independent hotels that will allow smoking In the past there are so many places that were my best £30 ever spent! I can even name the pricey London hotels that have balconies (you can beg opened) ... xx No more 'slave to the tobacco' Pep

oh, I should elaborate, I like going to concerts with friends - all over the country.... it was tear inducing when non-smoking pals booked cheap/great deals accommodation in non smoking hotels (and a joy when with other nicotine addicted pals who book a complete hovel just because they had smoking rooms) I have actually stayed in many an unsanitary B&B just because smoking was allowed I wont miss that worry

Depends on the fire alarm and the sensors matey. Most only have one chamber but you are still unlkely to set it off unless you blow directly into it.Newer type have dual chamber technology and are far less susceptible to unwanted alarms (cant say false alarms because the detector is only doing its job). Somebody mentioned air sampling (vesda) these will pick up the vapour but it should be setup to ignore it for the first few seconds and by the time it reaches the control module it will be that diluted it wont be enough to emulate smoke. And they are not generally fitted in hotels as they are no good for that purpose they are more for the likes of prisons, cell ares in police stations, detention centers etc. Neil 5 years experience in the fire alarm industry.

This may sound mad but if you are really desperate to vape then cover smoke alarm with a condom,...honestly it works! (any type )

Erm well all I can say on the subject is that vaping doesn't set off the fire alarms in nhs hospital consulting rooms...so far... Sorry that that should be smoke alarms!
