Thank You very much for the suggestions - Vamo will be going into the airing cupboard for a few days when I get home from work --- Leaving the Wife at home for my next Holiday sounds an even better suggestion B-) -- will keep the forum updated on my progress - Once again Thanx for taking the time to reply -- It's good to know that there is help out there for US Newbie's

Had a similar problem with my V3... In a final desperate act I removed the badly fitted thin cardboard "washer" that surrounded the positive pin ... Don't know if yours has one but it appeared to me it was preventing the flattop batteries making proper contact ... Worked really well after that ( until I dropped it and knackered one of the button ) .... Might be worth a try if all else fails
