Thanks for the help, Jemima - I'm sure I have made a complete dog's breakfast of this but your suggestion looks as if it may work. Started off with a lovely screenshot of 'Paint'... (lol) then had to change from a .bmp to a .jpg, the forum won't preview it - ah well, I can always edit if necessary...
OOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!! It DID work! Hurrah! Thankyou once again - hope I can remember this another time...

Thanks Tetsy & everyone else Tetsy, from what I've found out IE8 (&below) plus some other browsers don't support CSS, so that's why the border isn't showing for some of you. The next issue I have is trying to get the forum to look OK with everyone's screen resolution. Since my last coding updates to try to reduce any scrolling for those with lower res, this is what I'm seeing after changing my res back - I'll work on it more tomorrow & try & get everything looking OK for everyone

Arrrrrrgh !!!! That's what I was seeing too, Chrissie, but now it's back to scrolling again. Edit: But only on some pages, like this one. ??? Edit again: So far it just seems to stretch out to the right only on this page. The other threads and pages are fine. ???

Jerry, I've not altered anything so wondering if my pic has caused the problem & the auto pic resize isn't working for you?

That's a good possibility, Chrissie, since it's only this page that is stretched out. It's not a big deal and I wouldn't have even mentioned it, except that you are working on the forum.
Edit: The page is "normal" now. Did you resize your pic ??
Edit again: I see that your pic has been resized, so that must have been what was causing the problem.

OK, I've lowered the size of width that pics are auto adjusted to. Has that made a difference Jerry?

It's much better, Chrissie - I can enlarge to get clear text now and the frame stays where it should be. Oh no it doesn't - it's fine (very nice, in fact) while I'm in post-typing mode, but then I have to reduce size again or the frame only shows across the top, and then not all the way. OK, I think I've found a happy medium scylla

Lol, I'm thinking of trying something completely different tomorrow & adding a large amount of coding with dozens of variables so everything (hopefully) looks the same for everyone

Here's a link to the first part of the code ... Right over my head, Chrissie, I've never investigated such things - beyond basic HTML for eBay listings years ago. scylla
