Smokers stink - the smell!

So I quit smoking 4-ish weeks ago and have been vaping ever since,  and throughout those 4 weeks I've noticed my health and senses getting better,  I breath better,  food tastes better,  I sleep better,  I don't cough up a lung when I wake up in a morning,  my teeth are already getting whiter and feel cleaner than they use too. 

Now my sense of smell has been returning to me the last few days and today I got on the bus to come home,  sat near the back after finding an empty seat and the people around me stunk to high heaven of tobacco smoke,  I could smell it,  it hit me right in the face and it was disgusting.

In all the years I've been a smoker a few people have on occasion told me that I smell of smoke but obviously being a smoker I couldn't really smell it myself and I honestly believed that it was mainly just because I had just finished a cigarette and told myself that the smell would go away after a few minutes.  But now I realise I was wrong and just how bad that smell of a smoker really is..its disgusting and I feel so ashamed of myself knowing that I smelt like THAT for so many years 

Have any of you ex-smokers noticed the same thing?

After smelling those people today I'm never ever touching another cigarette again,  I can't believe I use to smell like that.

Been of the stinkies for 3 weeks and notice the same, it actually makes me feel sick now

yep same here, i drive buses and can smell people lighting up, at the back upstairs now people driving in cars infront too.... It really isnt nice. 12 weeks vaping for me, not a single drag off a stinky in that time

A few weeks ago I was walking up the road and a woman several feet in front of me lit up a cigarette and the smell wafted back to me. She stopped in the street so I had to pass her and I actually started to feel nauseaus the closer I got to her, and as I passed her the stench hit me real bad, arrgh it was horrible. I couldn't pass quick enough to get some fresh air into my lungs again.

Yeah, we all smelt like that before we started vaping - terrible to think how smelly we used to be eh

Agree with all of you can't stand the smell of stale smoke anymore! makes my eyes water and sting

Stale smoke is nasty, smoke coming off the end of ciggy on the other hand. Amazing lol.

Since I packed in the stinkies my sense of smell is now like that of a sniffer dog at the airport! Boy Oh Boy my home-made curries are hot! .My taste buds must have woke up too.I have completely re-decorated, ceilings re-painted,walls,skirting boards,doors. Anything that was washable got shoved through the washer or scoured by hand. Lovely and fresh it is at home, with the fragrances of my mixes steeping away : Red Astaire,Mocha,Coffee cheesecake.......etc etc

I'm a hairdresser and when you wet a smokers hair down before cutting it, OMG IT STINKS SO RANK ITS UUURGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!! To think I must of smelt like that makes me feel guilty to be near any body else's nose!

Gotta agree with this Roscopecotrain but the smell of a smoker YUK!! And as for their clothes, houses, cars, ashtrays...

That is what I plan to do this weekend,  well not the re-painting part but I will be washing the curtains,  bedding,  all my coats and jackets (because I can still smell the smoke on them) and my furniture.  I bought all the cleaning products and air fresheners today and I have a hand held steam cleaner on its way from Ebay

Yep, close to 4months vaping, the smell of ciggies makes me sick now, i have to stand outside in the smoking shelter at work to vape, its disgusting.

Never used to realise the smell as a smoker. How i ever managed to pull being on fags is beyond me! Haha

The smell of fags make me sick now. I had one puff of a fag last week just to see how I would feel and it honestly made me sick, literally! The taste was vile

I have to go into the homes of people who smoke and I can smell it on myself when I leave; it's not nice and I totally agree with you amygx, when I smoked I had no idea how bad I smelled. I don't like the smell of fresh smoke anymore which is strange because whenever I've stopped, in the past, I've been an avid passive smoker. I reckon that means that I have now properly quit and am an ex-smoker!
