My taifun gs arrived today, fresh from the classifieds (thanks wight!) I'm trying to find a good wicking method, as I am having some teething trouble. My current set up is a microcoil with cw fanned out in the base, and then two tiny cw pieces wicking into the base. It's working ok, but the flavour is quite muted. I've tried sticking the cw straight through the holes, but got big dry hits (enough to melt the cw - yuck) and tried a silica wick with silica feeders - very muted and dry. Ive read about mesh feeders, but I don't have any mesh. Has anyone got one and found the ideal set up?

Thanks Super-Shiny - actually, this set up isn't too bad but still lacking in punch compared to my kayfuns. I don't want to compare apples and oranges, but I'm sure it can be better than this.

I think the Taifun GS is similar to the Flash eVapor and this video will show how mesh feeders are set up

Ahhh - my GT is on the slowboat. Thanks for the vid, ill have a watch but I don't have any mesh at the mo. using cotton wool is working but the pieces have to be really thin to get it wick consistently. It's a bit of a tight draw as well, I'm going to try one of the other airflow rings when I'm through this tank.

I have my GT set up with a micro coil and cotton so I dumped my mesh otherwise I could have sent it to you.

Thank @freefromsmoking - I'll add mesh to my next order, but I'll persevere with cotton feeders in the meantime - they're certainly wicking better than the silica! I've rebuilt it 4 times since 11am this morning, and I think it's vaping ok now. I've got some cheap juice in it, I always run something expendable through a first tank, no point wasting your fave juice when it floods or leaks! We'll see how it does with something decent next time.

Mines set up exactly the same as yours. I think thats as good as it gets. Havent tried mesh yet tho either. Its plenty good enough for my pub vape tho as it is. Had mine about 3 days and built it about 15 times. Lmao. Silica just doesnt wich right at all does it?

The vape from it got a lot better as the day went on, but I have a sickly cola flavour in it and I had to stop vaping Im going to try tomorrow with some better juice and see how we go, and see if I can loosen that draw.
Ive never had much success with silica builds in anything, so wasn't expecting great things, but it was really dry and yucky. Much prefer my cotton!

Well, this morning I took it all apart and inspected. The wick was pretty dry, obviously not getting fed enough. I swapped the airflow tube for the wider one, rebuilt it with the same cotton method and filled up with mrs lord custard cream. What a difference! The looser draw really suits it, and even with a cold I'm getting tons of flavour. Much happier with it now!

Just a quick update after a week of fiddling with the GS, in case anyone is considering one: All of the cotton builds I tried resulted in dry hits eventually. The feeder holes are very small and cotton expands so much - even the smallest amount of cotton caused problems. I switched to the three strand silica method on a normal coil, as described in the manual (thanks Griff!) and it has been fine ever since. Good flavour, good vapour production, a pleasant vape. It is a bugger to build though - the silica needs to be fed through the holes, even when covered in foil it was a right pain in the backside to get them through. Still, now it's done it's very pleasant with some mrs lord custard and cream, I just hope the coil lasts ages as I'm not looking forward to building it again!

Hi Ive had a GS for about a week now, like you tried the cotton through the feeder holes but just resulted in dry hits. So I built a cotton wick and put gauze wick in the feeder holes, its now great taste with cotton wick but no dry hits.
