My letter to my MEPs.

Dear Trevor Colman, Julie Girling, Sir Graham Watson and William (The Earl of) Dartmouth,

As you probably know tomorrow is a huge day in the EU for ecig users.
I'd like to please ask you all to go in and defend my rights as a now non-smoker to continue to use harm reduction from smoking without draconian laws and restrictions that Article 18 of the TPD that would be devastating for this new technology that could save millions of EU citizens lives over the next few years.

To save lives, ecigs have to be allowed to flourish and be put in direct competition with their main rival, tobacco cigarettes.
Which means they need to be as freely available as cigarettes and as effective as the dominating vehicle for nicotine currently which is once again cigarettes.

I hope you have understood that if Article 18 of the TPD is enshrined in law tomorrow it will perversely limit ecigs chances of competing with the deadly form of nicotine use on level ground whilst gently nipping at the edges of the least popular form of tobacco and avoiding doing anything to drastic to tobacco revenues by stopping anyone from smoking or using NRT.

I guess there are many pockets within public health and politics being lined by those with vested interests in seeing ecigs fail.

A vote for the TPD is a vote for tobacco to continue it's dominance in the EU whilst side-lining the most effective forms of safer competition.

The overwhelming majority of vapers have no problems with sensible regulations that protect the users but the TPD is just written to put as many roadblocks in the way of ecigs as possible.

I wanted to see the TPD split so tobacco control measures and ecigs could be voted on separately, but that isn't what the vested interests in the EU wanted.
I see no other choice than stopping and bringing down the TPD till proper, sensible, proportionate and legal legislation can be written for ecigs as a separate bespoke piece of legislation that means the law can do what it's supposed to do - protect the citizens and not be used as a tool to further an agenda.

The amount of lies and corruption within the EU I have seen in the past year as an ecig user has shocked me and depressingly as cynical as I already was my view of EU law stooped even lower than I could have believed.

I passionately believe it's time to end this travesty and for MEPs to stand up and stop the EU turning public health into a gravy train for vested interests and not for protecting public health.

There is something rotten in the EU and someone needs to put the brakes on before a lot of people are put in harms way.

I'm not a shill, I'm not a tobacco lobbyist, I'm not a anarchist.
I'm a normal EU citizen who funded my own harm reduction without drain on the UKs finite resources and without State "help", supervision or interference.
I like millions of others in the EU want to see a fair and honest law created to protect citizens and I ask for your help to do it.

Please vote no to the TPD and lets do it again, but this time properly.
No law is better than a bad law and the TPD is as shoddy as lawmaking gets.

Ask them to vote against the TPD so that MEPs are forced to go back and write something that works and won't kill an estimated 105,000 people a year.

The TPD will ban anything over 20mg, bottles of liquid over 10ml and atomisers over 2ml, risk putting restriction on flavours and kill all advertising.
Warning labels on everything saying nicotine is dangerous and allow anything in the EU to be banned if 3 member states want it banned.
Refillable atomisers are under review in two years (we can guess what'll happen to refillables then!)
Delays the launch of any new devices by six months and needs test data before it reaches the market.
And here's the doozy - It bans anything that might leak and anything that doesn't give a consistent dose of nicotine - which is everything!

In short not one ecig on the market will be legal in 2016 and the only thing allowed with be something like an NRT inhalator.

Tell them why you think that's a really bad idea... if you do.
