I went into a New B&M Shop in my local town last week, for a nose around. Nice Branded egos, decent Innokin, Aspire and Kanger Tanks, MVP2 in stock, loads of colours, one with diamonds on!!! TJuice , Dekang and Vampire Vape AND a Vendor who was asking me about MODs and what I thought of various Juice and Equipment suppliers. I told him that I thought he had quality stuff in (Basic, decent starter stuff). "I am looking for an MVP2" says I, as mine has had enough, and I'm not happy toting my VTR about all day, with extra Batteries, so I need a replacement all day MOD. Into the shop I went today, I had a choice of 4 different MVP2's, I didn't go for the Diamond studded one!! Chatting to the guy for a bit, then he says "Do you fancy working here for me?" I was dropped on! Work has been tight recently for me, and the weather hasn't helped, I work outside. I've never done retail sales before, and I'm in no way an expert Vaper, but I have been Vaping a few Months, and am interested in spreading Vaping as a pastime to other people. The guy wants to sell quality, and he wants to spend more time on Importing and Wholesaling e-cig equipment. I haven't discussed Money, or Hours or anything with him, like I said I only popped in as I was passing. I can see how to improve his trade, 2 mins from Bus Station, 3 mins from Rail Station, very little Footfall on the street where he is based but canvassing Transport links should increase his passing trade The Shop is very basic, a lot of juices in Clearomisers to try, a few egos and Tanks in the window a Counter, phone and computer. IF! I take on the job it would be a major change for me, and I would want input into What is Sold, and to Who. Am I right in thinking quality and decent advice is what New Vapers want? When I started, in October 2012, I was 200 miles from home and was (I now know) lucky enough to deal with a Vaper who was selling decent stuff, AND REFUSED to sell me stuff he could see wouldn't suit my needs. Do I commit to this chance?? I know the shop could fail, and I'd be out of work, but to be honest, I'm not sure how long my present job is going to last! Sorry if it sounds like I'm talking nonsense, but Hey, I enjoy Vaping, and talking about it AND know some of the first pitfalls Most New Vapers encounter....Mmmmmmm??????

Does sound like an offer that is hard to pass up, and you can vape while you work. To us vapers? this is like a kid being locked in toysRus.
Good luck in whatever you choose......Rick

The most important question, and in my opinion, a deal maker/breaker... do you get staff discount????

Just bear in mind that with the TPD it's businesses like this which will be hit hardest, if I was you i'd treat is as a short term solution.

If it's not full time could you combine it with your current job? See how it pans out without burning your bridges so to speak? Sounds an excellent opportunity, congrats!

If you are not happy, or not secure in your present job, I would say you have nothing to lose. It will probably be the shops opening hours, at minimum wage, base it on that and have a think. Depending on who they are, and if they vape and how long for etc, you may become the main man, a fantastic opportunity, but look at what you have now could be my only suggestion. Oh and did I read that right - they have the diamond studded mvp's????

Judging by what you said that work is not great atm i presume you are self employed or something along those lines so why not take it, more income and something you may enjoy...if you can fit the hours in that is.
But i would not drop a full time job for it as the ecig world is a bit topsy turvy atm.

Yes, sadly I think that many perfectly viable little businesses could be killed off by the TPD, as DiscoDes says. It's a terrible shame. These people have invested their money and a lot of hard work in their businesses, whether B&M or Online, and now old mother EU is going to make life very difficult for them. The best customer service I've ever had has been from vape vendors, real people who work hard and care about their customers. Like I said, it's a real shame

It's a chance to stock up on supplies at wholesale costs if anything. Nothing ventured as they say.

Thanks for the replies, the guy who has the shop is not a Vaper, and has never Smoked, I think I'm probably the only person he's met who knows anything about Vaping, other than business contacts,I'm almost 50, white and working class. He's in his early 20's and Muslim, I fit the profile of a Vaper much better than he does, BUT I reckon he knows more about running a business than I do, like I said he wants to concentrate on wholesale and Importing, leaving me to impart my (not much) experience of Vaping to New or Beginner Vapers. I'm more interested in what YOU guys would want if you walked in to a B&M Vape Shop, if I take the job I'd intend to provide the best Customer Experience I could. I know the guy wants to provide quality products, that's what he stocks now, so thats a head start over most B&M's (apologies to the decent B&M Shops, I know there are a few out there!!)

It's mainly about what the customer wants/needs, than what the shop wants to sell them.

leaving me to impart my (not much) experience of Vaping to New or Beginner Vapers. You have six months vaping under your belt (that's six months more than most of the customers), and an obvious knowledge of the equipment. Just as importantly you are bubbling with enthusiasm about the whole vaping experience. This is what the owner sees, and what he wants his customers to see. He is a businessman and has taken a gamble but he sees your potential to improve his business and let him concentrate on what he does best. New vapers will really appreciate your knowledge and commitment.
