Thanks to the wonderful folk on here, the support, the information and the advice, today is day seven with no stinkies and I'd love to say that I'm on Cloud 9 but the truth is, I'm really ill. Yesterday I came down with an extremely heavy cold, sinus issues, hacking cough, body aches, tight chest and generally everything associated with respiratory infection. I did some research and found there is such a thing as 'quitters' flu' but also my daughter and her school friends all have horrendous colds so I suppose it could be either. Any thoughts on how long this might last and how I can feel better? I was so bouncy and happy at the beginning of last week and now I just want to curl up in a small ball and not face the world. In terms of vaping, it's wonderful to know that my machine is by my side but I'm not using it much at all. I think I'm still on my first 1.6ml of e-liquid that I started with. Thanks in advance for help and advice (and your experiences).

wolfvape - most likely you have picked up the virus of your daughter - but also think through what changes your body goes - it's getting rid of all the chemicals in the stinkies - I noticed it with my skin - spots and dry parts - it's clearing off now in Austria we say a cold lasts with treatment 7 days and without a week - I always think a nice glass of whiskey or other high %tage alcohol kills more germs than a lot of medications - but make yourself loads of tea with honey and lemon - helps too and most of all - get well soon

I've found in the past when giving up smoking that I felt worse before I felt better. Since I stopped smoking over a year ago when I started vaping my colds have become much fewer, milder and shorter and the painful cough afterwards have gone. This is the season for stinkers so you've probably just picked up a nasty bug, hope it goes soon. If you can't taste then menthol liquid often helps.

I like the idea of self medicating with whisky but that might have to wait until after work ;-)
And yes thanks for idea of menthol - I've got some that arrived this week so might give it a go. Got to be more fun than chewing Airwaves gum!

I've had the flu for about a week. Could well be non vaping related. Shouldn't worry. Just cheer up and realise that your chances of it developing into a chest infection are far less now you're vaping .. Not had a chest infection for 2.5 years since starting to vape. When I was on the stinkies average every 3 months

wolfvape you can add menthol to most fruit flavour liquids too you don't have to use menthol as a stand alone.

When a man has a cold it's Manflu and can be fatal (to men) When women get a cold, it's just a cold. Women seem to think it's just made up, but manflu is real, look: manflu.info/I loled when I read on that site that having XX chromosomes is a genetic mutation that makes you immune to Manflu

Poor you, sounds like you might have picked up your daughters bug. You can get similar symptoms after stopping the cigs, not sure if they're as intense as yours sound though. I've been lucky enough not to have had a cold (or bird flu ) since I started vaping full time. Although I had a few days when I had a really sore throat and thought I was going to succumb. Vaping was really rough on my throat from both the nicotine and flavouring, felt as though I was inhaling razorblades! I found that watering my usual juice down in my tank with a plain, no nic 50/50 PG/VG mix helped a lot. Hubby is just getting over a cold (only had it for a week this time!) and I diluted his too, he found it helped. I doubt you've got any supplies so I'd be more than happy to send you some if you'd like to give it a try? Just PM me

Yes vaping nic when you've got a sore throat is anything but fun! I drop my nic levels and wattage and try to use more soothing liquids with menthol at those times. Not fun.
