Hi all Looking at getting my mech mod protected, so .... As I vape at no higher than 9 watts would the kick 1 be jus t as good for me as the kick 2? Do they last long? - are they a once a year or once a month sort of expense - or do they last forever? Are any of the non evolv kicks worth looking at? Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere many times - I tried searching for awhile here but keep getting a "can't connect to server" message which is weird as I can read new posts ??? Thanks

I've been using the kick 1 since it first came out - I've got 4 now I vape at 9 Watts as well and they are fine for that - I mainly use them with 18490 IMR batteries and get reasonable time between charges with that combination. They are all still working fine and in use regularly I tried one of the clone versions and it works but doesn't produce the nice steady (easily measurable) output that the Evolv does, so I much prefer the original. Plus you can pick them up quite cheaply now if you look around

Thanks dave - that's great! Will look at the genuine evolv only then. I have only one mech mod at the mo - plan to have 2 (using 18650s) for when the govt clamp down. Preparing for the day when my beloved VTR stops working! - yep backups for backups etc Found the version 1s on sale for about £12 - will look around further just in case, but it looks like a good price especially compared to the kick 2. Then comes the decision about how many to get; min of 2 for sure - but spares? - then spares for spares?? - eeek. Prob stick with 2 - by the time I need to replace them the kick 3 will be out and the version 2s will be cheaper

Just bought 3(!) from evolv direct : www.evolvapor.com/shop.php - the original kick is about halfway down the page. They charge $19.99 +$1.50 p&p per item - comes to just under £13 per kick

I think it’s potluck really, a package may pass through or it could get stopped. I’ve ordered items from the States and Australia in the past and in my experience it’s been 50/50. But with internet ordering increasing they may be tightening up. If it is stopped then I think the rules are:
You may have to pay Customs duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135
You will have to pay import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £15
On goods from outside the EU, customs duty is waived if the amount of duty payable is less than £9
You also may have to pay a Royal Mail handling fee.
If you ordered just one then that would be fine. With the total of cost of £39 for three there isn’t going to be much import VAT to pay if the package gets stopped, but from experience the handling charge can be seem excessive. I recall I paid £8 on one occasion
Even then, at £39, I think the total payable would still be less than purchasing three in the UK, so well worth the punt.

Any news yet dhansak? I ordered one and got it yesterday. Not impressed with their QC dept. This one has a split in the positive end that looks like it was done when pressing during manufacture. Not such a good photo, couldn't be arsed to get the tripod out but still shows up. Not as ropey as that with the naked eye. Not a bad buy at a little over £13 all in

Hi @scooby - yes I have got mine! They came quite quickly - no duty to pay.... Was going to report back then was hit by some really bad news so everything got derailed. Hmm - I didn't actually open to check mine - just gleefully packed them away for future use - what a muppet Boy the QC looks like pants... thought getting stuff directly form evolv would be safe as houses - sigh. Will have a look at mine tomorrow and report back. Have you tried using your kick or is it not worth the risk?
