Current recommendation is to avoid protected batteries altogether and use IMR or hybrid in both mechanical and regulated devices. See the battery buying guide for good info.

I know that technically that means they have no wiring at all, but for my purposes I mean something with no circuitry.
What can go wrong?
What happens if their is a power surge, and what would cause it?
We have 2 home made (by someone else) mech pipes which have some simple wiring, and a fuse. It's rare but sometimes the fuse goes and whatever caused the fuse to go also kills the head on the atty.
We just got a kamry k1000 which is similar in design, just mass produced, and to the best of my knowledge doesn't have a fuse. Either it was D.O.A. or something happened when we used it with an Evod2 that killed it.
All use 18350 batteries and we use efest. We don't build coils, just replaceable head clearos of various kinds.
Anybody out there that can walk me through the complexities in "talking to a blonde" language would be my hero what can go wrong you forget to lock the switch and it continuously fires which can end up melting bits it your atty to the point if causes a dead short and yer batt go bang forgetting to lock the mod is common as is fubaring the atty when this happens but that takes longer as do the fubaring batt i couldn't give you a time on how long this takes but norm quite a while (ive done it as have most on here i was lucky 5 mins and all was good ruddy hot but good) what happens if there is a power surge tbh there shouldn't be a power surge as such its more likely a short your thinking of which would norm be caused by the atty (basically if it dont work when you press the button work out why norm the coil/head if all else is put together right) the pipe is prob blowing fuses because of the atty head is already dead and blowing the fuse the kamary prob still works you just gota adjust the center pin in the 510 on the mod im sorry i dont know the ins and outs of the kamry but it prob has ether a slot cut in the top or the bit that the batt top connects to turns if all the bats you have are 18350 you may want to look at a nemesis bottom button clone or a 69 clone side button (side button is less likely to be fired by accident)as both these can use 350 and a kick(a kick is a thingy you put in the mod that lets you adjust the power you send to the atty and also stops you running yer batts to flat) as you only use standard coils you will want to use a kick anyhows as most standard heads will prob taste burnt on a kick less mod tbh if your just using standard heads and a kick(£10) you should be ok(just rem if it stats getting hot in yer hand lob it like a hand grenade ROFL3thats my backup plan hope that kinda helps

Slightly off topic, at VF yesterday I had a busted 510 connector MVP for donation to ronaldo's fixology factory, and was using it to power up my fake Hana and htc phone. While it was charging at the AAEC VF Campsite I checked it and bloody hell, it was hotter than the sun! Note to self, don't rely on MVPs to charge stuff.
