I know that technically that means they have no wiring at all, but for my purposes I mean something with no circuitry.
What can go wrong?
What happens if their is a power surge, and what would cause it?
We have 2 home made (by someone else) mech pipes which have some simple wiring, and a fuse. It's rare but sometimes the fuse goes and whatever caused the fuse to go also kills the head on the atty.
We just got a kamry k1000 which is similar in design, just mass produced, and to the best of my knowledge doesn't have a fuse. Either it was D.O.A. or something happened when we used it with an Evod2 that killed it.
All use 18350 batteries and we use efest. We don't build coils, just replaceable head clearos of various kinds.
Anybody out there that can walk me through the complexities in "talking to a blonde" language would be my hero

Thanks super He's been using his mod constantly for well over a year using 2ohm ish precoiled clearos with decent results. He does change the battery a lot, but that's no big deal. Can you even get 18350 protected batteries? We both use efests. I guess with a simple fuse, then he hasn't encountered anything scary, just a minute of irritation until he changes it. Never had super heated batteries or anything concerning. If the kamry doesn't have any kind of fuse, does that mean it will just die? .... I mean straight out of the box. The kit form sends a normal clearo out with it, so it should function just fine.

Next daft question ... so a protected battery will prevent whatever it is that blows the fuse? Or at least prevent the fuse from blowing?

hi try sticking a paper clip in the place were the tank connects to the battery pull it out wipe it off and repeat the process. you should get black resin on the end of your paper clip. that resin build up blocks the vaper from getting threw. also stick the paper clip in both sides of the tank and the mouth piece. make sure your pushing the contact to the battery fully down. i just got done dealing with this issue on mine. think of it like a real pipe you cant just smoke and smoke why what happens when you do? resin build up so you have to clean the pipe every now and then. anyway I hope this helps you. o yeah take the battery out before you do these steps.

azduststorm480 Great advice..........perhaps you would care to introduce yourself fully with a post in the Newcomers section. But in case your shy I'll take this opportunity to say Hi and to AAEC.

I'd be very wary of protected batteries in a mech, safer to have something like a sony vtc due to the chemistry, protected batteries should only be used in regulated devices from what I can find.
It's basically a sony vtc can vent but unsafe chemistry batteries can and do explode. If you want protection use an 18500 and a kick.

There's very little point in using a protected battery in a regulated device - they already have a built in fuse in the regulation circuit so its like double wrapping the protection.

Yeh but apparently protected batteries are kinda dangerous in mechs due to their make up, at least in the regulated device there's other protection. Safer to use a sony vtc or similar
