I know Super-Shiny says he uses .25 kanthal for most things? but like you i've been reading up and getting swamped on what is needed for recoiling. In the end I decided to buy a starter recoil pack from Vape Mesh at £10 it seemed very reasonable. You do have £1.80 ish postage and 20% vat to add, but it still seemed cheap! Starter Pack Contents: - #400 x 0.025mm TWILL SS316 Mesh - 150mm x 250mm - 2mm Ekowool - 1 Metre - 3mm Ekowool - 1 Metre - 2mm Silica - 1 Metre - 3mm Silica - 1 Metre - 0.4mm x 0.1mm Kanthal A1 Ribbon Wire - 10 Metres - 0.2mm Kanthal A1 Wire - 10 Metres - 0.18mm Pure Nickel Non-Resistance Wire - 10 Metres I also added 20 metres of .25mm kanthal at £3.10 (theres 10% March discount) I know that wire does for protank microcoils. I think that gives you a decent starter to try any type of recoiling as theres a varient of wicks and wires to play with. Hope that helps but as I said, I'm at same stage as you...getting confused with all teh number options ???

As a general rule can't go wrong with 2mm and 3mm silica / ekowool , wire go for .25 for normal builds .3 or .32 for micro coils 400 grade mesh .Well there's my two pence worth anyway

As above 0.25 or 30awg kanthal is good for most devices. But i prefer to use 0.3 or 28awg kanthal for micrcoils, as its a little thicker so i can get more coils for a similar ohms reading. A basic idea is the thicker the kanthal the lower the resisitence, for example 4 wraps of 0.3mm kanthal around a 2mm wick will be about 0.8ohms, while 4 wraps of 0.2mm kanthal around a 2mm wick will give you about 1.7ohms.
If you have a device like a Kayfun, then its better to use microcoils, 0.25 or 0.2 kanthal is fine for this. Mesh is best used in Genisis type attys.

You are gonna get swamped with many different combo's here I won't recommend any particular type without knowing what juice you will be vaping Micro coils work best with the thicker wire and cotton wool or cotton lace Standard coils over 2 or 3mm silica or ekowool worked best for me using .2 kanthal Mesh wicks worked best for me with .25 kanthal But I change that about to suit whatever juice I'm vaping.

I just use 0.25 Kanthal + Cotton for everything, whether it be the OH's protank heads or my spheroids, 8 wraps around a mandrel 2mm gives me 1.8ohms. It just simply works well

thats what i want, where you get your blowtorch from what do i use to fuel them HAHAHA lighter fluid ? and pliers i need those to come on spill the beans haha Also come to think about it i probably will not need a resistance checker cause i already have 2 got one on my vv/vw smok and also got through the post today the addon resistance checker for mech mods can read the voltage coming out of your mod aswell as your atty at the same time though thinking about it, its mostly a voltage checker to make sure my batts are not running with low discharge for when i need to recharge them

have ordered blowtorch from fasttech but Amazon have a decent little one for 6 quid ( it's orange) fasttech one is similar but was silver and just over a fiver. I wanted one with a base so I'd have both hands free. For the needle nosed pliers look in jewellery tools on eBay, loads there for under two quid sorry can't link as on phone at moment My multimeter was eBay also, cost under three quid, bargain!

p.s blowtorch is only palm sized and filled with normal butane ( lighter fuel) and you can alter flame on a side dial
