not one of the pubs that i found were vape friendly kept getting funny looks off people when i was vaping dont know the name but the best restaurant is down by the riverside

it was a really nice break - bit cold though - Durham is a lovely city - not too many interesting shops though - which was maybe good for the budget - you can vape in the Shakespear and in the City pub opposite the Marriott

Glad you had a good time Clivia. The only time I've been to Durham was on a school cricket tour many moons ago. We stayed at Durham University and I managed to get banned from the Student Union bar! Don't ask!

I dont really know Durham that well but must be some nice pubs and restaurant down the riverside

we found loads and loads of coffee shops - not too many pubs though - lol - but it really is a nice place and we plan to go back at some time - we stayed in the Marriott, which was very pleasant - once again by phoning the Marriott directly I got a better deal than with hotel.com or booking.com - the only thing, which was not great, was the first dinner in the hotel - the next day we went to La tasca, which was nice - but food in the evening was pretty mediocre and therefore very over prized - the break fast was gorgeous though and the stuff very friendly - but you can't vape in the hotel ( well nobody will notice it , if you do it in the room )
